Big Phil Haters

Just to take on the tap in arguement with proof otherwise Hamburg??? turned the defenders inside out and buried it from edge of the area or Aalborg spun round used sheer brute strength to go through to score. There are different types of strikers you have your small pacey guys like Owen you have your tap in specialist like Lineker in his prime ,bean poles like Quinny was or Crouch who always get labelled as header specialists when they could use their feet, or you have the type like big Phil strong lad powerful and young also hungry! As I said in my earlier post and I noticed a few others saying similar things loan him out to let him mature and we could well have a cracking player on our hands

And there are very few big strong lads about, most of them got stuck in defence at an early age. Big Phil managed to dodge that bullet due to his first touch and goal scoring instincts (I can only assume) to me he is a merge of big strong and poacher and thats why he will make it in my opinion. He can play the lone striker role like Heskey but also get goals like Linekar so he fulfils two roles.

I'm probably getting a bit carried away with the lad but he is a very exciting prospect to me.

Only a jerk would think that comparing Caicedo to Drogba was evidence of how bad Big Phil is. The manager doesn't currently have Drogba to call upon spookily enough. I doubt that the youngster will lead the line next season but the lad has certainly improved and unlike some of our so called strikers he knows where the back of the net is. Worth more time.

8 tap ins are 8 goals, end of story. If it was that easy every striker in the league would be scoring 20 goals a season. Credit where it is due.

I mean for fuck sake, how long have people been bitching about the fact that we don't have a goal poacher? A young 20 year old lad comes along, and in his first full season scores better than 1 goal in every 2 starts. He clearly loves being here and wants to prove his worth to the fans. Then you get twats moaning about how he doesn't score goals from outside the box.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure Van Nisterooy genuinely never scored a goal from outside the box in his rag career, i doubt you'd find their fans were moaning about that. (note - this is not a comparison between Caicedo and RVN, and is merely intended to illustrate that no-one who's sane gives a fuck about how your main striker scores goals, as long as he scores them.)
Fuck me people are actually complaining that he only scores tap ins?

First it was his funny running action, now this?

Best get working on those bicycle kicks over the summer.

Exactly - people on here do not seem to realise that the aim of the game is to score goals and don't seem to realise what a potential gem we have unearthed this season.

Some one earlier in thsi thread put although they'd love Big Phil to stay at City they'd prefer it if Bojinov started games instead of him. Why????? So he could score more goals or so that he could be greedy with the ball and have long range attempts that ballooned into the crowd???

It's interesting as well that now Big Phil continues to score goals that a lot of the haters admit they were wrong but can still only concede that 'he's a nice lad' or 'we should keep him but send him out on loan for a season' or 'well he's ok but he definetly won't be starting next season' - well I hope he continues to build on his relationships with Robinho and Ireland and improves enough to compete for his place next year because he's the best young prospect we've had for years - and I include Sturridge in there as well.

A bit? Try vastly. You're getting vastly carried away for a lad who is sluggish, can't jump, first touch of Benjani, regularly runs into traffic and fails to spot the right ball consistently. He won't even be a starter next season and don't try to talk shit about how Hughes rates him because he didn't even get a look-in until almost every other striker was crocked, but fair play to him that he took his chance. Squad player at best and if he works hard he might turn into a decent Ligue 1 or Bundesliga level striker.

Yeah he'll be like; Klose, Toni, Podolski, Gomez, Diego, Almeida, Dzeko, etc, need I go on?

lol vbr.. having read your posts i have determined you are what is well known as "braindead". a striker, new to the league scores a goal every 2 games and is ONLY 20!! fine he might not start next season but we would be far in bottom half without his 8 goals. who cares if the goals are tap-ins goals are goals!! rather a striker like him score 20 tap ins than a show off scoring 10 fancy goals a season. btw that wasnt saying phil will score 20 a season just proving a point

Is that all you could name? Diego isn't a striker. Luca Toni? PMSL. Hugo Almeida is gash, don't know why you've listed him in there. Dzeko looks a real talent and not surprisingly is being linked with bigger clubs in bigger leagues. Klose is a good veteran striker. Gomez is hyped a lot.
