Just to take on the tap in arguement with proof otherwise Hamburg??? turned the defenders inside out and buried it from edge of the area or Aalborg spun round used sheer brute strength to go through to score. There are different types of strikers you have your small pacey guys like Owen you have your tap in specialist like Lineker in his prime ,bean poles like Quinny was or Crouch who always get labelled as header specialists when they could use their feet, or you have the type like big Phil strong lad powerful and young also hungry! As I said in my earlier post and I noticed a few others saying similar things loan him out to let him mature and we could well have a cracking player on our hands

And there are very few big strong lads about, most of them got stuck in defence at an early age. Big Phil managed to dodge that bullet due to his first touch and goal scoring instincts (I can only assume) to me he is a merge of big strong and poacher and thats why he will make it in my opinion. He can play the lone striker role like Heskey but also get goals like Linekar so he fulfils two roles.

I'm probably getting a bit carried away with the lad but he is a very exciting prospect to me.

A bit? Try vastly. You're getting vastly carried away for a lad who is sluggish, can't jump, first touch of Benjani, regularly runs into traffic and fails to spot the right ball consistently. He won't even be a starter next season and don't try to talk shit about how Hughes rates him because he didn't even get a look-in until almost every other striker was crocked, but fair play to him that he took his chance. Squad player at best and if he works hard he might turn into a decent Ligue 1 or Bundesliga level striker.

lol vbr.. having read your posts i have determined you are what is well known as "braindead". a striker, new to the league scores a goal every 2 games and is ONLY 20!! fine he might not start next season but we would be far in bottom half without his 8 goals. who cares if the goals are tap-ins goals are goals!! rather a striker like him score 20 tap ins than a show off scoring 10 fancy goals a season. btw that wasnt saying phil will score 20 a season just proving a point

"Big Phil" scoring record for Manchester City in the Premier League:

Its something like 7 starts this year so 7 starts 18 off the bench so still a pretty good scoring record.

im not coming on here because im sure bp, has got what it takes, whether hes going to make it to the upper echelons of the game or not. the kid has improve over the season, playing in the role of a lone striker isnt easy for a seasoned pro.

what i would like to ask is who was the our last 20 year old centre forward to score as many goals in the hardest league in european football ?. but hey lets vilify the big fucker anyway, who the fuck does he think he is, he doesnt put a shift in, his attitude stinks, he keeps refusing to sign his improved contract demanding £75,000 (allegedly), keeps being seen in night clubs on the piss.

sorry for the last bits i was getting confused.

like you`ve been,

ffs hes a 20 year old kid, and i can think of quite a few striker we`ve had over the years who dont come near to touching him imo

27 appearances and 5 goals then. Also the teams he has scored against in the Premier League:

Hull
West Brom
Bolton
Blackburn

Kind of puts it in a better perspective doesn't it? He's not complete dog shit, but for all of you hailing him as having a huge future you're going over the top.

If your point is that he has only scored against weaker teams, he also scored against Hamburg who aren't a bad side.

Good job he scored against Bolton last Sunday as, no matter how bad a side they are, nobody else managed to.

Young, solid, talented and a lot more honest than Sturridge with his pay demands! Keep him, excellent prospect and we lose nothing either way. He comes good, we have a gem in our team, and if he doesn't, we sell and move on.
to be fair he'll never be as good as sturridge but i hear what you are saying, having said that sturridge wont come out of all this that well, it could affect his own progress.

how can you say he will never be as good? surley attitude is 50% of what makes a player and big phil loves city and will do all for us! studge was one of my fav city players but i cant stand him now! greedy bastard who isnt as good as vladi weiss
