Bitter, Bitter Spurs Fans.

Do you not see that the Sheikh wants to make us the biggest team in the world? If he ever leave it will be after he has achieved that! By that point the global support and merchandise sales etc etc means that we will be making more than enough to cover everything. He has also wiped out our debt which means we are fine on that front aswell you see?

In the past we have had some cack players and can't get big amounts for them purely because they are not worth it. We are now buying players which in the future we will be able to sell for a nice big sum and recoup alot of money. Which is what you do when you sell your best players to the bigger clubs, whereas we shall be selling them to teams that won't be able to get near us.

I would do some research before saying we have no history mate.

Also we didn't ask to be taken over it just happened! The fact the other teams resent us so much and can't admit they are jealous is quite frankly annoying. Of course though we are just little city and aren't allowed to progress and become the force we can be. We should still be buying goalkeepers from Shrewsbury in the hope that they will go onto to become the England number one for 5ook.

No the future is bright and the future is blue so just accept it!

I know you guys will probably start going mental and calling me names or anything else childish, but you'll never be one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Its like Espanyol saying they'll be bigger than Barcelona, Torino saying they'll be bigger than Juventus or Athletico saying they'll be bigger than Real Madrid. Even if you do achieve success, which I think you will, the history and infamy of the biggest teams with bigger trophy cabinets will always be ahead of you. You might have some temporary success, but you'll never be the biggest in the world, and neither will Spurs. Sad but true IMO. The name of the bigger clubs will always be the lure for the best players and as far as I see it, its a closed club.

I think you're right to a certain degree Richie although I think your examples are a bit off.City and Spurs are big clubs in their own right but will never be as big as Utd,Real,Barca etc...Both clubs need to get on with the business of winning trophies.

In answer to the Spurs fans on this thread.
Every City fan wants success, and how we get it doesn't really matter. Let's face it success is long overdue.

I've not heard any City fan say we're going to be the best team in the world.
Where we've come from and where we are today is enough for us to be going on with.

Would you say that the rags (Manchester United *spits*) are one of the biggest clubs in the world?

Some truth in that mate..

But 15 years ago did you ever think Chelsea would be considered one of the biggest clubs in the world ? I know we don't think that over here but people in other countries now see chelsea on the same level as Juve, Liverpool, Inter etc.... If you visit Asia now, you see loads of Chelsea tops like you do United, Liverpool etc..

lighten up its callled banter, like when clubs sing "where was you when you was shit"

well the entire football world knows we have always had good crowds.

its called banter, and isnt meant to be factual.

I doubt you would call it banter if Everton fans, say, sang it to us had they been taken over by multi billionaires...

Decent responses Richie, always nice to get the not-idiot fans on here from other clubs.

I take what you are saying about the Barca's, Madrids, Scum etc and they will probably always be "big clubs" barring something disastrous happening (like the Glazers at the scum hopefully hehe) but things in football are cyclic. Most of the CL clubs now, because of the CL money, will probably stay in that elite group but there is always room for another club to muscle in and displace someone, if for example, Roman has a heart attack and dies next week do you think whoever inherits from him is going to give a stuff about Chelsea? Liverpool are looking decidedly dodgy and another season of injuries to Torres and Gerrard will definitely finish them.

Big clubs are that because of their trophy cabinets and regular attendance in the CL (now), a good stint, maybe 10-15 years, of regularly appearing in the Top 4 with the odd PL win will qualify someone else as a big club and in 2025 it could possibly be "Liverpool who, ah yes, they won some stuff in the 70's and 80's". It happened to Leeds, Forest and going further back Blackpool, Preston NE etc.

We've got a great chance of this because of our financial backing and all we can do is ride the wave for the next 10-20 years because I think it's going to be fun for fans of City.

Would you have said that twenty years ago when they'd 'only' (still far more than us) won one European Cup (less than Nottingham Forest, same as Villa), seven titles and seven FA Cups? Back then, Liverpool were the untouchable British club - by far the most successful, and the likes of Everton and Villa had similar-sized trophy cabinets. No, I'm not saying that we will become the biggest club in the world but saying it's closed ranks is ridiculous. Our neighbours, of all clubs, have shown us the ascendency is possible.
