Good Beatles yes, bad Beatles no.......They will still be singing Beatle songs in 200 years.
Rock and roll is I think generational. We Foc's bang on about Yes, Genesis etc from nearly 50 years ago. It is as fresh and loved today as it was when we were teens. Will that be the case in 50 years time? Little chance I think. The popularity dies with the generation. Only one or two artists will transcend that basic fact. The Beatles are certainly one.
'Concert Hall'!!!!!!!!Factually wrong. And thoughtless to boot.
I think I lean more towards S2 here, Im a big fan of Dan but they wont be remembered in a thousand years (maybe 300)......The Beatles are just fucking massive.Would you like another spade or is the hole deep enough?
I suspect they'll be mostly (not completely) forgotten in 50 years. I doubt many 20-year olds have ever heard of them.I think in 1000 years Steely dan will be mostly forgotten, save for those that seek.
Why?Assuming New Order/ Joy Division are in I’m claiming them for Macclesfield
And I am in no way seeking to denigrate Steely Dan who are a very good band. But to liken their influence to Mozart or Shakespeare is frankly ridiculous.I think I lean more towards S2 here, Im a big fan of Dan but they wont be remembered in a thousand years (maybe 300)......The Beatles are just fucking massive.
The general music forum I go on has 108 thousand posters.
They discuss all music, a lot on there are audiophiles, there are very detailed threads about nearly every big name band, BUT the thread for example about The recent video Beatles Get Back has 828,000 posts, and getting bigger by the day.....
Even the latest McCartney album (McCartney III) thread has well over 2 million posts.
Steely dan are highly regarded on the forum of course but The Beatles are by far the biggest talked about band, there are literally hundreds of threads.
The power and appeal of them seems to hold no bounds. If you take that serious music forum as a kind of snapshot, They will, like just Beethoven and Shakespeare never be forgotten. They have become iconic, I think in 1000 years Steely dan will be mostly forgotten, save for those that seek.
