Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

All we needed is for you to rate Roxy a bit higher and they could have snuck in. Oh well.

Sorry about the diatribe, I just obviously really dislike the guy.

I was c(k?)urious how Kraftwerk made it in there most of all. They influenced so, so many other bands with their sound so I figure you have some others who used them as a springboard that you like. Or maybe they were so different and first so you like them for that?

No worries. I don't like him either.

Kraftwerk are the best at what they do. I'm sure I do have other bands / artist in my collection that are influenced by them: John Carpenter / Depeche Mode / Gary Numan.

I had a list of c. 600 artists to star with, based on my cd collection, so it ranges from Frank Sinartra to Wu Tang Clan; Garth Brooks to Bon Marley; Prince to Grateful Dead (both mear misses on the 100); Marvin Gaye to New Order; John Williams to Mozart. However, my first love is and always will be Classic Rock.

its clear your tastes are many and varied and its dangerous for someone especially like me to be surprised at any of your favourites but I have to admit I never would have thought you a fan of Tom and Jerry ( aka Simon and Garfunkel ).

Couldn't agree more great songwriter and always tuned in when he appeared on the Letterman show who knew a good songwriter or two.
WZ was a very underrated song writer,at lot of his songs were very humerous as well as emotional.’Genius’ the best of WZ is well worth listening too
Also the documentary just before his death ‘keep me in your heart ‘ is both funny and sad.
He was a real hell raiser in his day, his Biography ‘I’ll sleep when I’m dead ‘ is really good read.
One of my biggest regrets was not seeing him at ‘The Lowry’ when I had tickets but couldn’t go.

Wasn't paying attention to this in time to submit but here are mine based on the unscientific criteria of "listened mostly/only to this artist for an extended period of time.

1) The Clash
2) Tupac Shakur.
3) Def Leppard (was young and rocked a Joe Elliot mullet as well.)
4) Rage Against the Machine.
5) Oasis
6) Rancid.
7) The Damned (saw them in 80s, 90s, and even 2019 in NYC).
8) Run DMC.
9) Metallica.
10) Notorious B.I.G. (this selection conflicts with #2 on this list.)
11) Rocket From the Crypt
12) Dropkick Murphys.
13) N.W.A. who I actually had a chance to see live in late 1989 with the entire original lineup and PASSED IT UP.
14) Smashing Pumpkins (saw them AND PEARL JAM as completely unknown opening acts for Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1991 I think.
15) Nirvana ( also saw when largely unknown.)

Seems like hip-hop fans are in short supply on this forum so that's me representing then!

No love for Coldplay in this vote. I find that surprising considering some of the great songs they have done.
Saw them at the Etihad and they were excellent.

I thought Parachutes was a great album on release, but sort of lost interest after that. Thought Clocks & Vida la Vida were decent singles, but everything else by them is a tad bland for my taste. Each to their own & all that.
When City played Basel away, I ended up in a micro pub in the indoor market all day which seemed to be playing a Coldplay singles compilation on a loop. I'd lost the will to live by the time we had to set off to the ground!

Parachutes and a rush of blood were amazing albums.
can’t really stand them now.

Coldplay not really pre football match material, thats Oasis for me.

It's the older stuff I like, some amazing songs. Surprised they didn't make the top 100. I think it was you who pointed out they wrote Gravity for Embrace.

Motley Crue at 26 should be an insta-ban.

I agree with your view on Vince Neil. He does seem a total arsehole of the first degree. That he didn't seem to learn any lesson, nor show too much remorse in killing Razzle is my main reason.

However, I absolutely love the first Motley Crue album. No, Neil can't really sing, and the drum sound on it sounds like Tommy Lee played his mum's pots and pans. But feck me there are some class tunes on the album.

All downhill after that for me barring the odd track here and there. I only ever saw them live once at Donington, 1984 (what a line up and day that was) and 'not very good' is a polite description of their set.

Funnily, I did go to FIVE of their UK Theatre Of Pain gigs in 1986. Purely as Cheap Trick were supporting them, but didn't see a single minute of Crue's sets .... :D
