Bluemoon

I take the view that many people in today's world can no longer face the truth and reality in anything.

We are not the club run very badly by a TV rental shop owner in the 70s, we are now one of the richest and best run sporting clubs in the world, we have the best of everything and our staff at all levels want for nothing.

The simple fact is for the last season and a half we are in decline, and there is no sign that decline is going to stop anytime soon.

We are making the same mistakes week in week out, our recruitment has been extremely poor, we have spent enormous amounts of money on very ordinary players.

The incredible momentum the owner of this club has created over the last 12 years is slowing rapidly, and I am so , so sure he will not be impressed as won't our magnificent Chairman.

I don’t think it can be blamed on “fair weather” fans or WUMs, but you’re right that this forum has become divided and negative. After having a few accounts on here over the years, I can’t say it’s something I’ve seen so often and so fiercely before.

But like I say, I don’t think it’s our fan base that’s become fickle. We’re simply underperforming massively as a club, and it’s very difficult to understand why. Everyone has their theories, whether it’s individual players, the manager, Khaldoon, Txiki, our philosophy, the style being “found out”, Covid, the media bias, referees, whatever. Literally every possible angle has been taken on this.

But for all of those angles, nothing is working out and there’s still no answer. I think people are entitled to be incredibly frustrated. After all, some of the issues are blindingly obvious. It doesn’t help that there’s a stubbornness about our team/manager at the moment, and that the club has seemed to distanced itself more and more from us as supporters over the years. So I’d actually blame a lot of this negativity on the club itself, not the fans (appreciating the irony of me blaming the club for one more thing!)

What I don’t like, however, is the fact that the player performances threads have descended into two camps: one group of fans who fiercely rate the player, another who fiercely don’t. And both keep trying to prove their point. One good game? All the “positive” fans come out with their evidence. One bad game? The “negative” ones. It’s comical really because it even happens mid-match over things as small as a misplaced/top-class pass.

I actually think debate and, even negative opinions, on certain players is warranted. Same with the manager. But I don’t think the aggression / division is. I think it will continue though, until the club has worked out this “crisis” if I can call it that, and especially considering how boring our football is at the moment. What else is there to do?

We have an extremely talented squad who are each earning an extraordinary amount of money to perform to the best of their abilities when selected

I can perhaps excuse a couple of not reaching the standards required in a game, but when half a dozen fail in what was pretty much a must win match, then I believe I'm entitled to a rant
To add to this, it's definitely a squad problem. I think fans are looking for individuals to blame, sometimes because they stand out, to be fair, but every combination we play at the moment seems to have the same problems running through the team. Every player is playing 2 - 4 notches below their best, except for Dias and Stones.

I was thinking the same about the club. The club seem distanced to me this season.
I dont know if it's just me not being able to attend matches , or not having my Citizens cards freebies !
I dont feel involved in City at the moment.
Perhaps that's why bluemoon is abit more like a wum forum we cant all vent our displeasure at the match.

Just wanna hold hands up and apologise for my negative rants in the match thread y'day.

I was totally out of order. My case, I was trying to echo frustrations also, but from diff angle prob it came across as somewhat annoying, ridiculing, patronising or just me being a dick. so am happy to accept criticism from others.

I gotta see the positives in this team (which im finding it hard to). But anyhow this is what forums are about. Give the good and the bad, and if bad as long as its a constructive one. Rather than drop sarcasm posts, etc.

peace!

I've been one to comment negatively about the team recently and I definitely feel it's warranted. Of course, whinging is annoying but again, we're whinging for warranted reasons. We have a team that steamrolled the league not long ago. That same team are not even a shadow of what they used to be.

I've been through the shit years, like most of us. When we were shit then, it was to be expected. I personally didn't complain if we lost because, for the most part, it wasn't expected of us to win every game. Nowadays, it is expected. We've become used to winning. That itself is a curse.

Yeah, as @FantasyIreland said, fair play. I looked up some of your previous posts to see if you were genuine, and saw loads of requests for tickets, going back a long time.

Frustrating for us all, but my philosophy is you have to take the rough with the smooth. Without rain, there ain't no rainbow, to quote Dolly Parton. This might be a fallow period etc. Trust in our leaders.
