Blues in the Stretford End ‘92

I remember TC acknowledging the mob of City fans as well. Before the game we bumped into another blue we knew really well, he had a small City badge on, the reds around us also knew we were blues but were fine. That could never happen today.
I think that's more to do with where you were as opposed to what things were like at the time. Stretford Paddock wasn't really where United's livelier element gathered. If you were in United Road or K Stand you might've come unstuck. That said, United were going for the league and City had seemingly handed the title to them on a plate 3 days earlier after beating Leeds 4-0 so I'm surprised that 1) Their fans weren't more up for it atmosphere-wise considering the circumstances, and 2) Their fans weren't more hostile towards us blues given that it was such a big game for them and they ended up dropping points

I was one of those in the seats at the top of the Stretford End that day, C stand if I remember correctly.
There was about 20 of us from Heywood and when we were Chanting "City City" the Stretford end starting singing " C stand sort em out, C stand, C stand sort em out".
We knew the risks and were prepared for battle but can honestly say not 1 rag had a physical go at us.
Ps Hendrie scored their goal, not Giggs.
Hated the way he got the glory for it

We were in the Stretford seats that day along with a lot of other City fans, I remember the chant C stand sort them out, not a single fuck was given, I vividly remember singing a Barcelona chant as well, we also took the piss before the game in the pub where the bishops blaze is now situated, can't remember it's name, and they have the cheek to say we've never shown up at the swamp.

Think it was called the Dog And Partridge?

A mate of mine was on the Stretford End that day of the 1-0 defeat in '91 and he distinctly remembers the City chant going up from the Stretford End seats. He said it was piss funny seeing the Rags around him going off their rockers "Them fucking blue bastards are in our seats again!"

There were alway blues in their end back in those days because you got tickets from your mate or a tout. In the derby where Giggs scored on his debut there was a chant of “City” went up from the Stratford seated area which was hilarious because they were all looking round going mad trying to see where it came from but we were spread throughout the stand.

That could have been us. 3 of us were together giving it them.

This ridiculously crap screen shot off youtube is a 16 year old me in the main stand paddock after Brightwell ‘just wellied it’.
Instinct made me shoot my arms in the air.
Fear made me put them right down.
Bravery made me shoot them back up when i realised there was quite a fee blues around me.
Yeah I was sat a couple of rows behind you and if my memory is correct there were quite a few blues dotted around us that day. No bother of the rag fans I think the brightwell goal just stunned them.

like someone said earlier, it always seemed easier to get tickets in their end than ours and i probably attended 3 or 4 OT derbies and sat in K Stand
Can’t remember the year but we drew 2 v 2 and I was in k stand. Got the ticket off a rag work mate. Don’t know how I got outta there alive as I was threatened after celebrating first goal and did a repeat performance on our second goal.

Its current landlord is a huge blue , think hes been there 20 years. My memory of how long between him and tommy is gone

Yes John his name is ex seaman and a big Blue I knew him years ago, we used to drink in the Snooty Fox on Princess Parkway. We were having a drink in there before the Charlton 5-1 promotion game and Alan the manager at the time gave us free hospitality tickets in the Maine Stand as the brewery were sponsoring it. He was also in Porto for the champions League final.

Yes a great pub back in the day, 14 pool tables upstairs, used to have live bands on and DJs in its prime. Sadly now a McDonald's and petrol station.
