Bayern just paid 25M for Neuer who is 25 and was in the last year of his contract. Bayern are have tons of cash and we should be looking for 20M for him. We have not seen the best of Boateng but lets not sell him on the cheap.

Well, tbf Neuer is one of the best players in he world in his position. That is just not the case with Jerome. (He's not even a starter in the German NT). Plus, it was (aparently) 18 million, plus some million (amounting to a total of 25) if Bayern win the league and/or the CL.

Also, I don't think there's a way Bayern would pay 20m. Bayern tend not to overpay and they have already bought several players this window, and might be willing to buy one or two more.
So City should just sell Boateng for cheap to please Bayern then?

No they should keep one of the most promising CBs of his generation.

Looks like the poor bastard will have to fight for his place next season

If it is him v. Lescott (who i have a lot of respect for), my money is on Jerome.

I hope he stays. Mancini rates him and has said that he thinks Boateng will be a top defender in years to come. I rate him and see him as a deadly partner for Kompany. He has probably had the worst season out of all our players. He joins a new league that is more physical and faster. He gets injured twice and is played out of position when he does get game time which was very little. He needs game time in CB. He is better than Cahill.

Long time reader of bluemoon, first time poster.

Excellent first post.

I have not seen him say that he "wants to go to a big club" (just that Bayern are one of the 6 big clubs). I seriously doubt he actually said that.

If this is true, I rage!

Bayern Munich are closing in on Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng and hope to have the signing sorted by Wednesday next week.

Boateng moved to City for around £10m in June last summer but the former Hamburg star has failed to settle in Manchester and wants to return back to Germany.

Munich have been monitoring his situation all season and have submitted a bid to City, believed to be around £7m.

Boateng, 22, has told City he wants to leave and the club have accepted they will have to take a hit on the fee they paid for him last year.

And Munich are now confident terms can be agreed, with a medical due to take place early next week.

This makes no sense. Why will we 'have' to take a hit on the fee?

If we take a hit on a player we bought 1 year ago and have under contract for 4 more, we are mugs. I'd rather him sit than take a single pound less than the amount we paid.

we, at minimum, have to get back what we paid for him.

If we lose 4 million on this lad and are holding out for outrageous fees like 4 or 5 mil for the Wayne Bridge's of the world I am seriously questioning our management this summer. Ludicrous this summer thus far.

I have it on good authority that he will be gone. City see him as a dud with a questionable attitude. To be fair to him he has his own gripes about the way he has been managed, especially in Kiev.

No great loss. Good luck for the future.

For what fee, though? Surely not 7m!

Because we don't want him and he doesn't want us. It's in noones interests for him to stay
