Bonfire Night

Do they shit on the pavements as well?
Leave worms in grass that blind children?
They probably do if they are reminded of the situations they previously encountered.

The dog shit argument is for another thread, for discussing equally selfish and dirty cvnts.

I went and stood on the bridge near to mine last night to have a watch. You may think I’m an immature 38 year old child, but I enjoy watching them.

Without the big displays this year I think people have ordered some decent ones online for their own back yards and gardens to enjoy.

I like fireworks and more so bonfires, and always will.

I always look to find things in our traditions that resonate with me. A decade or so ago I realised that I don’t even believe there was anyone called Jesus, never mind that he had a miracle birth, so I researched about the history of Christmas and how it was stolen by the Christians from long standing Northern European traditions around the Winter Solstice. I feel more connected to “Christmas” as a result feeling that it’s our festival that has been celebrated for thousands of years on our island, than I ever did before when I [wrongly] thought it was a Christian festival.

I looked at our other festivals and traditions, including Bonfire Night. While it was initially about the celebration of stopping a group of Catholic terrorists blowing up Parliament and the King, and an anti-Catholic festival; I took that with my own interpretation as an atheist and look upon Bonfire Night as a celebration of atheism and being an anti-religion night. With atheism growing and religion becoming decreasingly believed-in worldwide, I think that’s a good thing to celebrate.

Don’t mind bonfire night. Understand it for the kids and I would be a liar if I said I don’t enjoy watching big firework displays. I’ve no idea though why they still sell those things that sound like a bomb going off for peoples homes/gardens. I’ve had a dog in the verge of having a heart attack and it’s been going on solid for 4 nights now. 6-11 without fail. It’s not fun seeing your dog petrified of the noise

I don't think the vast majority would want them banned entirely,as that is unnecessary. However, restricting their use to a couple of nights a year,at organised events, and with a limit on noise pollution, would be ideal and very welcome by the millions who suffer, some for weeks on end,at the hands of inconsiderate and anti social fucktards.

Respect shouldn't ever be too much to ask.

Should just be on the 5th November, only. I agree.

Best bit for me was yesterday in Tesco’s there was a queue a mile long for fireworks and it kicked off as half of them were not wearing masks and the shop assistant asked them very politely to either put on a mask or leave the store. The abuse the poor women took was astounding
