Booing our heroes

On the tram home someone started singing "Feed the Shit and he will score".

I bet the majority of fans on the tram laughed when they heard it. Ilaughed when I read it.

Edin Dzeko is a very average PL player who is a good goalscorer - he doesn't deserve to be booed, but similarly, he doesn't do much to merit fans singing his name.

Only boo rags, ex-rags, and cheats.

Ironically a very average player probably wouldn't be in the top 10 of goals per minutes in the league ever. That's the clearest indication of someone not being average.

That was the shittest stat the BBC have ever come up with and Gary Linekercan'tbearsedtospellhissurnamecorrectly wasn't even presenting.

It wasn't shit because Dzeko was in the top 10, it was shit because - like all shit stats do - it ignored the fact that Dzeko would of had a higher margin of goals in that top ten if he fucking gave a shit and was hungry to play the game in a positive manner.

He's very average.

Unlike most on here, I don't see any difference between boo'ing a player and/or the collective moans and groans that are directed at a couple of players notably Dzeko and Garcia.

Yesterday was an embarrassing example of this, where the frustration of the performance of the 'team' was directed at, in particular, Dzeko.

This is the guy who has scored critical goals for us at critical times in games West Brom, QPR and Real Madrid immediately spring to mind, and has one of the most impressive goal per minute ratio's in the whole league.

I couldn't get recent statistics but the last I found showed he is the 2nd most prolific striker in goals per minute terms in the premier league. Unless I am mistaken or there have been new rules introduced this is the single most important facet of a strikers game. If anything I would think that has only improved this season.

Let's not also forget his prolific scoring record for Bosnia of 33 in 58 games. That must be one of the best scoring records in international football and not with a top top intl team.

Just when will the numpty faction of our support realise that we are not giving Edin the best chance of success. We are driving him away from the club and his performance yesterday was of someone who is lacking confidence and conscious of making a mistake in front of an overly critical crowd just waiting for him to make a mistake. He is not playing with the freedom that a supportive crowd would afford him.

Is it any surprise that he scores most of his goals away from the Etihad ?

For Edin Dzeko read Jerome Boateng, this was another high quality player that just because he doesn't run around like a headless chicken is seen not to be contributing to the team. He then goes on to be the mainstay of the Bayern Munich team that wins the European cup. Ycnmiu. We are now doing the same to Edin Dzeko who has scored 50 goals for the club (Rooney only hit 150 after over 10 years at the rags). Edin has scored a third of that in thee seasons and far fewer games in those seasons.

When will people realise that Dzeko is someone who comes alive where it matters, in the box, he is a poacher a classic penalty box player, although his stature belies this fact.

Everyone comes on here and says I never boo a player, no maybe not, but many of you will moan, groan, shout expletives and abuse your own players. Yesterday was a classic case in point, Dzeko misplaces a pass and there is a collective groan alongside many thousands of expletives, Negredo (who I think is fantastic Incidentally) misplaced a couple of passes very badly and not a sound. (Just as it should be)

Collective groans and shouts of abuse are every bit as destructive as boo'ing and is a disgrace and as others have said you can f@ck off to the swamp if you don't want to support the team.

I have absolutely no doubt that were Dzeko to receive the support of the fans we would see a better all round performance as well as the goals.

FFS get off their backs you morons,

POTY.

Post of the year?

(I not using the question mark in a dick way. I just like guessing acronyms.)

.. how would you feel if you got booed in front of your team mates, family and friends?

I'd positively encourage it at the moment, I'm playing Captain Hook in panto.

The ref, the linesman (or woman) and the opposition. Even the the bar when it runs out of beer are fair game.

Shouldn't boo your team though.

Sometimes I feel like chinning the pricks near me. Instead of supporting the team they choose to abuse Garcia, Kolarov and Dzeko.

I wonder when they started supporting us?
You have a short memory mate. We've always had moaning dicks following us. More than our fair share I would say.

Aye mate, was only young in the Maine Road days but do remember Edgehill getting a hard time.

Just seems a lot more common now.

It's not more common, but it's a lot more ridiculous.

That's not really relevant quantitative data though is it? He's much better at scoring more often than most other strikers in the league whether theyre trying their bollocks off or not.

Boateng was fucking shite aswell, and on the evidence of our two games against Bayern this season, (Red card and catastrophic fuck up leading to a goal) he still is. Personally I don't boo our own players in the ground but I'm not going to pontificate to people who do, especially when in the two cases you mentioned it has been entirely justified.

Im not the biggest fan of Dzeko or Garcia and think we could improve on these players but I understand football is a squad game and that not every player will be a world beater. Dzeko biggest problem is his work rate and know he scores goals but at the same time he don't close down anywhere near as much as Negredo or Aguero which can put the rest of the team under more pressure. His first touch and passing isn't as good either but I think this is because he is lacking confidence and is trying to do too much to cement a first team place. Garcia in my opinion is simply lacking pace. But both players are decent and could do a job for most teams in the ELP. That being said they have my full support once they put on the shirt I have never and will never boo or moan about one of our players at the game it doesn't help anyone and certainly not players who are already probably short on confidence!
