Bang on
You’d have thought that given the opportunity to play 30 min against a demoralised team losing 4-0 would be a great platform to show his talent.
Instead he strolled about looking disinterested. He looked slow and generally not bothered.
Really want him to do well but I fear for his future at City if any more displays like that.
Massive drop off to Rodri ..

Rodri shows for the bapp non stop , Phillips hides behind their midfielders when Our CBS have the ball. Well seemed like he was .

This “safety first” thing has been a problem with Foden all season. Maybe it’s a confidence thing. It was there again yesterday although he grew into the game. Maybe I’m imagining it but his problems seemed to start at Anfield he spent the whole game coming backwards and Pep went mad at him and he’s hardly even made the team since then, even pre-world cup.

For me he’s always in our best team but clearly something’s been wrong for most of this season. If he finishes the season with a point to prove it’s been worthwhile and hopefully Pep has managed him well long term.

It's not just Phil, the team have struggled to get the balance right. The problem is that too often we have been punished when we lose possession. Bournemouth's goal scoring move came about from City making a stray pass in their half didn't it?

Yesterday, I thought we were much more aggressive attacking wise. I think Bournemouth, especially after the early stages, gave us more room than most teams do, which would help.

Also, as one of the press pack spotted, our shape was unusual yesterday with a lot of players bunched in the middle of the park. Pep seemed to indicate that was partly down to trying to handle transitions.

i thought phillips did himself no favours, he was awful, give him a start on tuesday and see if he can step up
Think part of the problem with Phillips is that he’s not had a chance to get used to the system by playing lower league teams in the cups. Since the WC we’ve played the scousers, Southampton and Arsenal.

Really enjoyed the match and great to see Foden back to fitness. I thought he struggled a bit in the first half hour, couldn't shake off the full-back and had a couple of bad touches and showed a lot of frustration Once he'd got past the left back he grew into the game and finished it brimming with the confidence that lets him make the difficult look routine.
Lewis was the stand out player for me. Don't think he gave the ball away once and showed some creativity and drive going forward as well as solid defending.
Ake was unbeatable and what a nice change to see the opposition supporters applaud the lad and not mindlessly boo-ing.
The away support was fantastic and had me stood up in front of the telly singing along. Even made the wife laugh as they went through the updated songbook.
Pep had it right with post match comments, and the players thanking the fans properly at the end felt like a tightening of the bond.
Surely not. If I had a pound for everytime I saw some muppet claim he doesn't get our supporters, I'd have filled a piggy bank.

Phillips is a decent player but he needs game time. He's not and never wil be Rodri MKII. Rodri is probably our most important player; even more so than Erling. We know we can score lots of goals without a centre forward but Rodri is now the glue that holds the team (play) together.

I get the impression that he would rather be back at Leeds.
Sadly I think you’re correct.
I think he may realise he’s not up to what is required and if Bellingham were to come here he will definitely be gone.
I’ve seen more positivity from Perrone n 15 mins than I have from Phillips since he arrived.
I’m afraid he just doesn’t look up for the fight.
