Boyata

Shocking performance. He didn't have a clue what was going on all match. Sometimes I was wondering if he knew he was actually in a game of football.

Absolutely shocking today he looked completely lost at right back, Poor in possession of the ball, Bad defensively, And didn't know what runs to make going forward.

One of the great shite City player performances.

Not good enough, the championship is about his level.

I'll start off by being fair to the lad; he's never a RB in a million years so why he's played there is beyond me. He's been sent out on loan at places where the manager is shit and philosophy of football is shit. He's come back to us and learnt absolutely nowt from the loans. Very poor by us.

Now I'll stop being fair to him and say he's simply not good enough anyway. Seen him a few times now this season and he's out of his depth.

He looked like he'd won a fans raffle for the chance to play, he was that bad today
And a Blackburn fans raffle at that!

He looks frightened to play the ball, so, in the main, does a back pass. He is also very slow to react when the ball goes in his direction, giving the opposition forward a good 5 yards start - that comment isn't just confined to today, but every time I've seen him play. A good athlete, but you need more at the level we (generally) play at, and he hasn't got it, I'm afraid.

Yes he struggled, but most Centre Backs don't enjoy being auxiliary Full Backs. Also he hadn't had much game time so in effect we played an off the pace player, out of position, in an away cup tie; so it should be of little surprise he struggled.

The failing here is not Boyata's, but the Management Team's.

From a layman's perspective, there seems little point in having an EDS system, if at the point where you don't want to play your one fit Right Back (Zabaleta) it cannot supply a suitable replacement to step forward to the 1st team?

If this 'stepping-up' is not considered possible then can somebody explain why we are bothering building that Academy?

Ask yourself this, if Hart, Pantilimon and Wright got injured, would you accepted the management putting Ferandinho in net rather than go to EDS level to use Gunn?

Well the simple answer is No, so why did the management think playing an 'off the pace' Centre Back out of position as acceptable tactic?

In short, Boyata didn't play well, but he did as well as he could. The reason the team struggled was that he was asked to something he couldn't, and that is a fault of the management.
