Two goals is not a bad night at all but far too lightweight and didn't show much else I thought. Took too many easy options when Foden would have tried to create something. But on the other hand he hasn't had much opportunity and it took Foden a few games to start finding his feet. Also not really his natural position but he'd find out a lot more competitive in the middle of the park, where KDB and the two Silvas can look after themselves.

i have to agree in some repsect, he is very lightweight and i'm not sure he had that good a game beyond his goals. Though, his positioning was strong throughout and it was no coincidence he was johnny on the spot twice, got that wide player positioning sorted

I saw it very differently.I thought he worked tirelessly, and showed excellent strength on a couple of occasions when fighting for/winning the ball.He frequently found good space, his control was superb and he used the ball very well, quite often putting their defenders on the back foot.I thought he looked mature beyond his years and a danger in possession.

8/10 performance.

Thought he played well but I can see us losing him and as with Sancho I don't think it's entirely the club's fault. Sometimes it.comes down to timing too. We will see more of this especially in an era where teams are pinching eachother's prospects from all over the world. Unless it's a Foden that has has come through the academy from a young age, a lot of young players aren't going to command too much loyalty. With Diaz there isn't much room to give him too many minutes in his favoured position in our team so if he isn't willing to be patient then we're at an impasse really and I can see why going back to his home country to try his luck at Real Madrid appeals.

By the same token we've pinched Gomes from PSG and Garcia from Barcelona and there seems to be a sense that the latter in particular is the real deal. We'll won some and lose some over the years

I'm somewhere between the two opinions. Thought he had a decent first half, but faded in the 2nd, and PB's point about him looking lightweight, in a way that Foden curiously (given his slender frame) doesn't, was a valid one. It's a shame that whenever he plays he's stuck out on the wing, cos he's a no.10 really. I still desparately want him to sign a new deal, but I don't think he did enough to press home his case last night. 7 out of 10 for me

He was notably tired in the second half, probably as the initial adrenaline was disappearing.......he is a 10,like Foden and like the Silva's.....which will be a stumbling block where the contract is concerned,as he doesnt have the attributes to keep our current wingers out of the picture either.

I would love him to stay,i think he should.....but i can very much see the case for the alternative.

He impressed me last night, ran his heart out with 2 nice goals, albeit 1st took a deflection but hey ho, the kid got lucky. I am In the wanting him to stay camp, probably as I like to see youngsters coming through, but I just can't see him displacing our regular starters, plus Foden is ahead of Diaz in the pecking order. I think Brahim will become a fine player at a top club, but i don't see him playing for us this time next season.

I think pep said the matter is out of his hands. The ball is in Diaz court. He doesn't sound confident Diaz will sign I guess after what happened with Sancho and how he is developing now. Can't blame either parties. Hopefully he decides to stay but best wishes if he leaves hopefully not to one of our rivals though.

I can't see him staying, for the simple reason he won't be good enough, soon enough, to get past the players we have, as a 1st, 2nd or even 3rd choice & we don't seem to have a policy of giving young players a lot of minutes from the bench, in Prem games.

I think we should play them a lot more, not just for their benefit, but to reduce the risk of late stage injuries, like last night.

But it doesn't seem as if we will, & when we do, it will be Foden who gets on, so it would actually be the best thing for him, to move imo.

I always wondered how it would sound having my name chanted from the stands after scoring a goal. Now I have done it. Twice. And it’s unreal
Thank you for all your messages! On to the next round!

We need to make the final push to get him to stay now.

Pep said it’s not up to him but he can play a major role. Include Brahim on the bench this weekend as a reward for his match winning two goals. Try to get him on if we are cruising.

Continue to play Diaz a little more often and if he doesn’t sign by January then it will be clear he’s leaving, so he should never again be included in the 18.
