Presumably the negotiation will focus as much on resale / first refusal clause as on the actual transfer fee.

Off to Real Madrid for €15m + add ons apparently. Good deal. Good luck to him, time will tell if hes vindicated. Shame we couldn't keep him but at the level we operate, this is going to happen.

I know he’s only 19 but I am not seeing the same potential I saw when Foden broke through for example.

He’s selfish and his first touch is not all that imo. Good dribbling but overall play is seriously lacking. To be honest watching all his appearances for the first team I never once thought we have a “special” player on our hands.

When I first saw Foden I immediately thought future world star, I saw Eric Garcia this pre season and thought wow he could be one of the best in the game. I never got this feeling with Diaz so I don’t really mind if he leaves or not. Think he will leave but hopefully it’s in January so we can get a fee.

With due respect, I disagree.

Pep is extremely reluctant to start younger players ahead of experienced veterans; unless some youngster has Messi-esque talent.

As I've mentioned in numerous threads, I thought that we should have loaned out Foden - especially since he's a great talent - and - a bit less so - Diaz - as he's very talented but not a lock to make our squad.

Off topic a bit... regarding Sancho...

If, under Pep, we will neither start promising youngsters in our squad, nor loan them out, what is someone with Sancho's talent supposed to do?

Me neither. I've never seen what others saw in him. I reckon at his very best he could be a Hazard type player but he has never done it for me. Even as yours I'd always preferred Phil and Sancho

He will get more chances to play at City than he will at Real Madrid that is for certain.

Next opportunity will be 6th January against Rotherham in the FA Cup, or in a League Cup semi-final. The lad has got it made at City. I hope he realises that.
