Brentford's bare-bones squad is even more stretched with the loss of Vitaly Janelt, who is sidelined with Covid-19, and the suspension of Christian Norgaard. Bryan Mbeumo hobbled off during their defeat to Brighton.

They join Zanka, Kristoffer Ajer, Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry, Charlie Goode and David Raya as being unavailable for hosting Premier League champions Manchester City.

I think most of them are injuries (non covid), & under Premier League guidelines this shouldn't affect the fixture providing they meet the 13 number threshold. Although I think they may have lost a little credibility in this as they allowed Newcastle to pull out of their next game v Everton under similar circumstances.

I'll be completely honest, I've heard of about three of those players so no idea how big of a miss they are.

Regardless of them being full strength or not we should win anyway.

Ah that’s a shame if true mate, don’t the club normally mention Covid? Or maybe they are trying to keep any Covid issues in house and on the quiet?
Dunno pal, it could of course be an error on Physion Room, or just speculation. Hope he is back soon, for me he is our most important player, not the most talented player but the one for whom we have the least cover. His sniffing out of danger, covering the back four, unbelievable ball retention, setting up of attacks. The best in his role in the PL by a country marathon

We are going to smash them 5 nil then

Liverpool will officially cancel New Year’s Eve

Utd will sign messi, mbape & neymar

New Year’s Day press will then say city are ruining football.

All very possible :-)

Buzzing for this game! Brentford really shouldn’t be taken lightly. If we win we are tightening the screws on Chelsea / Liverpool and we can really deflate one of the teams (or hopefully both if a draw) by the time they play each other.

The next 2 games will have enormous bearing on the season.

With injuries/illness both games are very difficult.

If we remain undefeated at the end of the week we are well on our way to regaining our title.

Mbeumo is a massive miss for them. He’s been brilliant in a two with Toney

This game and the Arsenal game is against teams who are very mobile quick on the break it going to be a very tough game at Arsenal with the confidence sky high and when young players are full of confidence this will be so hard for us especially with Arsenal having a week rest.

We need to win tonight then a draw or a loss is just a hiccup.
Is our confidence not sky high ?
Why do you care about Arsenal?

We have played against United, Psg, Liverpool and Chelsea and controlled majority of the game so why can’t we control the Arsenal game. Yes anything is possible but we are more likely to win than lose.

Does that honestly upset you ??

It doesn't upset me, for one, but it's part of those niggling little things that have a cumulative effect. In itself, it's nothing — a footling detail. But you add them together and you end up over many years with a mountain of bias. One grows weary of it.
It's only United and Liverpool who benefit from this kind of thing. The United/Liverpool mythology spills over into Europe, too. Recently I've been watching City's matches, and one or two others, on RMC — the French sports tv channel. I turn the commentary down completely (and have Manchester Radio on in a second window, to get my commentary) because they're pig ignorant of the actual history of English football (which they only started to pay attention to with the invention of satellite tv), and because they've got their tongues so far up Liverpool and United's fundament that it's just sickening.

If Rodri is out for longer, I worry about playing Dinho here and against Arsenal.

Perhaps it’s worth trying Zinchenko as a DM and letting Ake play as a defensive left back, still transition to our usual 325 attack.

I'd had near enough the same thought.
