Sheikh Mansour is NOT a "sugar daddy" and has never claimed to be one. He told us when the takeover was confirmed that he envisaged a period of investment in players to enable City to compete for, and win, trophies. No-one can complain that he hasn't fulfilled his promise. He told us that this would be followed by a period of consolidation and we have known for a long time that this summer funds for new arrivals would have to come, in large measure, from the sale of players already here. Most of us know who these players are. We also know it's Brian Marwood's job to move them on. But that doesn't make it any easier. Adebayor seems content to sit in the stands and pick up his wages. Paying a club to take him isn't going to provide City with money to buy someone else! RSC wants to play football, will go somewhere else but clubs are reluctant because of his injury record. Marwood has a difficult job, operates within policy limits laid down by the board/Sheikh Mansour and cannot be held responsible simply because a few City fans think they have a right to expect the moon - and the Sheikh to pay for it. Hazard wanted the same wages as Ya Ya, without ever playing like him! Any club has to think very carefully about the details of a deal for a 29 year old with a checkered innjury record - especially with the four strikers we've got! Let's just trust the club - it hasn't let us down since 2008, has it.

As in any bussiness there are politics and you have to fight your corner and there has to be a bit of give and take;

Mancini's target players named at the end of last season have gone, we ultimately withdrew from the Hazard deal, I think Mancini accepts this. To enter the last 3 weeks of the transfer window and not have the cover in positions that we would need to maintain last years challenge is what is concerning Mancini. Then on top of that to find out that Ballotelli was being considered for sale to PSG which has now come out appears to have been the straw that broke the camels back and he's come out fighting!

Apparently Mancini has offered his resignation over all this and that's what I find unacceptable. There's obviously a communication problem between Mancini Marwood and Khaldoon that needs sorting quickly.

I think you're right in what you say, Marwood has got a difficult job in getting rid of the likes of Ade, RSC, Bridge etc. However, he's had 4 transfer windows to do it and still not managed to. He's known for 2 years that Mancini doesn't want these players.

The strategy he has been using for the last 2 years to try and get rid of them clearly isn't working, and yet we are 20 days away from the end of this window and we are no closer to getting rid of any of them.

If he was working in any other industry and had 4 or 5 big products / contracts to sell and he'd made no progress whatsoever in 2 years, he's be out the door. I know he's got a tough job, but you can't tell me Galliani, Gill or Levy wouldn't have come up with a better solution in 2 years. He's got no experience or seemingly natural talent in the role, he's quite clearly not a good negotiator.

While you could say Marwood has got a thankless task, Mancini's frustration is completely understandable. He seemingly has very little say in transfer negotiations, and has been told he cannot improve the squad until these players have been sold - players he didn't buy, doesn't want, and has not wanted from the moment he arrived.

Mansour does want to see a return on his investment, and it is fair enough that he doesn't want to, or can't because of FFP, bankroll another heavy buying summer with no sales. But the football expert here is Mancini, he wants 2 or 3 players to freshen up and improve the squad to give us the best possible chance of winning trophies.

The person who's job it is to get the wheels moving to allow that to happen is Marwood, and he has been failing at doing that for 2 years. It's not working, and I think it's time to look for someone else with a different approach with a track record of success in that area.

Somebody else was brought into get rid of players

Who do you mean, John Williams? He's clearly a better negotiator than Marwood as he took his pants down and got 18m for Santa Cruz. Williams now actually reports to Marwood, and it is Marwood who has overall responsibility for transfer business. Obviously Mancini says who he does / doesn't want, but it is Marwood who does all of the negotiating and deal making.

I'm not saying he's useless, he's clearly intelligent and talented, otherwise he wouldn't have held the position he did at Nike, and have got the job with us in the first place. I am sure there is a role at the club where he could be an asset, but you have to look at it objectively, he's clearly not doing a good job on the transfer front and it's time to look for someone who can do better.
