Brighton (H) | Post-Match Thread

Yeah I don't get the "we were rubbish" comments really. It's the result that counts. So many times we played really really well and didnt score, even lost the odd game, were much more frustrating imo.
Now we have Erling.

Of course: result first, performance second. Result was great, performance wasn't - Brighton upped a few gears in the second half and we were sloppy. I don't think we've played at our best in 90 minutes much this season - we've done really well in periods, but it's to be expected considering how they strutcure when the team peaks. To have done so well and not hit our peak is impressive.

For such a fantastic side, we do have trouble with our wing backs (left back) if pep only had a full pack of cards to play with, the club tried hard in the summer to get Cucurella but ended up with somebody that Pep does not full trust in Gomez or to play one of the youth lads,

I don't like the 3 centre backs and cancelo option, we sort of look a counter attacking team and hit back to front more in the 10 games than pep has in the whole 6 years he's been here,

but we are still a great side and win when it's bloody hard going, Brighton must also take a lot of credit and play the game in the right way and made us earn the 3 points

Just watched MOTD, first chance to see some of the main talking points back.

Mahrez fucking awful, that miss could have cost us yesterday, should be sitting on bench bar Carabao games then get rid asap.

Akanji looking fragile for the first time, he really lost confidence quickly in that second half.

How wasn’t that given as a pen for the foul on Haaland? Utterly bizarre, had a great angle at the ground to see it and then having seen the slow motion replays, what the fuck was Lee Mason doing? Wanker even when not reffing!

Eddie had a mare, kicking was appalling nearly all game bar the assist for Erling, and should never get beaten at near post from that range, dreadful.

Ruben was shaky yesterday, he’s another lacking in confidence at the moment.

Other than getting the 3 points there weren't many positives yesterday, great to see that Erling is now in charge of pens and chalking up another 2 goals.

On the opposite side, I thought Brighton were really impressive, great tactics and dominated us at times and we really struggled. Surely to god at some point they will manage to get a decent striker on board and they would be a top 6 side straight away.

So to sum up - Brighton really impressive, City not many positives, but we won 3-1.
Long may it continue

Maybe already mentioned, - but Brighton actually had MORE possession than we did! 51,6%.
When did this last happen at home on our turf?

Exactly, and it was evident why. We just couldn’t play through the middle, they shut off all lanes and looked they had an extra couple of players on the pitch at times. Very impressive.
