British Justice ... it sucks in this instance.

Shouldn't there be a comma after the word comma in your post?

No because it's the second thing in a list of three. The fact that the word 'and' follows the word 'comma' means that I win again.

Uninformed ignorance.

You have clearly not heard of the Oxford comma

'But, lot's of folk are getting shot by folks with guns - how can we possibly address this situation?
Maybe stop folks owning guns?'
'No, stupid - we need even more guns...'
And Amerikkkans wonder why others laugh at them.
Joseph Heller is alive and well, and sends his regards.

I see your level of "debate" has devolved into amusing yourself and your friends with childish drivel. Enjoy!

Now I really am done with you, because if you don't grasp the salient fact that British folk are generally happier, more relaxed and saner than their US counterparts because we tend to see the bulge in a bloke's pocket as an erection rather than a firearm, then there is no point in taking this any further.

stereotypical happy, relaxed, sane british folk...

anyway its not exactly difficult to get illegal guns in england. Keep cutting social programs, raising your incarceration rate, cutting benefits, and dishing out happy pills instead of treating actual crazy people and maybe you'll catch up to the US's gun problems. I don't argue that the UK is better than the US by a wide margin in a lot of areas, but I'm not sure why it seems the UK is trying to catch up on the race to the bottom. Even in this thread people are acting like a custodial sentence for a bar fight is "fair" and some sort of redeeming feature of society.

But this wasn't a 'bar fight' - it was a largely unmotivated and premeditated attack where the assailant deliberately chose a venue where there were no witnesses.
I reckon anyone doing the same in America would also receive a custodial sentence.
Unless, of course, he did it to a black man in a southern state, in which case he'd probably successfully sue the victim for dry cleaning bills for removing the blood from his jacket.

The average Guardian reader could buy and sell you in the brains department, which I accept wouldn't be difficult.
In fact only a really stupid person would conclude that reading possibly the only decent daily newspaper we have renders you a 'dickhead'.
So well done you.

What has that got to do with anything? It's ChicagoBlue's opinions that are being challenged not his nationality. He claimed that the incidence of Breaking & Entering was far lower in the USA than in the UK when in fact the opposite is true on a comparable basis.

This was an interesting thread before it got derailed by the usual suspects so can I request it gets back on topic.

Don't be too hard on Challenger - he's learning new words via Wikipedia, albeit that they are apropos of fuck all.
Back with the programme, I'm just amazed that someone from America can claim that this sentence was disproportionate, given that Nebraska or some equally unenlightened state gave some poor sod a life tariff a while back for stealing a Hershey bar under their ludicrous 'three strikes and you're out' policy.
If Oakie's mate had been black, he'd have been looking at attempted murder charges had he done this in the states.

Hang on a minute.

Are people calling for the death penalty for the missus of the apostrophe?

right, my point being, do the opposite of america. Look to the actual "happy" well adjusted, non school shooting, non abject poverty having countries and copy those. The criminal justice system here is becoming america light, that's a problem.

I never knew the apostrophe was married.
Though if she's anything like my missus, I can't say I blame them.

I hope that faux pas doesn't mean I go on 'the list'?

Yeah, I'm just like the BNP because I suggest that Americans may have things wrong regarding gun control.
I honestly thought that you couldn't get any more ridiculous when you suggested that the European Union was tantamount to Nazism, but it seems that your stupidity is indeed a bottomless pit.
