Who on earth rubber stamped 160K a week over 6 year for Phillips?Wages.
We don't sell players we want to keep, the teams we are selling to can't afford the wages, we do get the highest price we can, do you think we are turning down high bids?So why does Manchester City never get top dollar for our players,

It's not rocket science is it?We don't sell players we want to keep, the teams we are selling to can't afford the wages, we do get the highest price we can, do you think we are turning down high bids?
It really isn't.It's not rocket science is it?
We have a different approach IMO, if a players wishes to leave we enable this to happen usually by lowering the fees, when it comes to younger players we usually go for lower fee higher sell on and buy back clause. So why does Manchester City never get top dollar for our players,

For me it was potentially a sackable offence and probably would have been had we not been so successful over the last two seasonsWho on earth rubber stamped 160K a week over 6 year for Phillips?
That deal was so unlike us.

Bit over dramatic, we obviously thought he was good player that could be taught enough to cover Rodri, he wasn't it happens.Impossible to predict every players capacity to learn Peps game 100%.Surprised we do as well as we do.For me it was potentially a sackable offence and probably would have been had we not been so successful over the last two seasons
Made sense at the time, and then Pep tore up the 433 and went to a box with CB coming forward.Bit over dramatic, we obviously thought he was good player that could be taught enough to cover Rodri, he wasn't it happens.Impossible to predict every players capacity to learn Peps game 100%.Surprised we do as well as we do.
All the major players we signed were promised contract extension/improvements if the player came in and settled and was successful.I think he had such a good euros and Pep and Txiki trusted Bielsa as well?
Because most teams wanna keep the players we are trying to take. We are often trying to get rid of the players we don't want that others might need. The dynamics are different. So why does Manchester City never get top dollar for our players,

Some you win some you lose. Fortunately for us we have many more players in the win column than we do in the loss column over the last decade. All the major players we signed were promised contract extension/improvements if the player came in and settled and was successful.
Toure, Aguero, Silva, Dias, Rodri and Ederson as examples, but what other team was going to offer Phillips 160k a week.
The Champions of England should not be offering those terms to a player like that, he was NEVER at that level.
Leeds were offering 100-120k in his new deal, we offered 140-160k depending where you get your numbers/rumours.All the major players we signed were promised contract extension/improvements if the player came in and settled and was successful.

Find it hard to believe Leeds were offering that in their circumstances.Leeds were offering 100-120k in his new deal, we offered 140-160k depending where you get your numbers/rumours.
find it hard to believe its 160 but thems the stories.Find it hard to believe Leeds were offering that in their circumstances.
Very true, none us know the real story but it's been mentioned many times and the reason for the difficulty in moving him on.find it hard to believe its 160 but thems the stories.
Doesn’t sound that much to me, I presume he’d be their highest paid player, England regular, and they wanted to keep him.Find it hard to believe Leeds were offering that in their circumstances.
