Re: Bruno Zuculini

Bruno Zuculini will sign for City on Friday – but he is not expected to be challenging for a first-team place this season.

Indeed, the 21-year-old Argentina Under-20 international is already being lined up for a season’s loan to a Spanish club, with Villarreal and Deportivo La Coruna heading the queue.

Zuculini’s arrival is a timely reminder that, while the strengthening of the first team continues apace, there is just as much attention being paid to the club’s future strategy.

This week alone, the Blues have brought in two of Holland’s top teenagers, with Ajax winger Javairo Dilrosun – seen as the best young talent in the Dutch club’s academy – and Feyenoord midfielder Rodney Kongolo both signing.

Zuculini is further down the line. He has already played 100 games in the Argentine Primera Division, having played in the first team for Racing Club since he was 16.

But he is not quite ready to challenge a powerful City engine room of Yaya Toure, Fernandinho, Javi Garcia and Fernando, and so will spend a year honing his talents in La Liga.

City moved quickly to secure the 5ft 10in starlet, making a pre-contract agreement with the player and his club six months ago, for a fee of £1.5m

Might have already been asked, but as he's non EU, and not an international, how will he get a work permit here anyway ?
