Thomas Schaaf resigned as Coach of Eintracht Frankfurt even though he still has a contract until 2016. Reason was obviously that he was "mobbed" behind the scenes by members of the board.

Looks like we are back to the old "diva" image. :(

For some reason with the update my account is no longer recognised so this shall be my new alter ego so to speak, instead of the rather outdated MCFCHOWELL. My first post had to be in the thread that I spend the most time in!

^^ Don't listen to him, he's lying. :)

That's a shame. I doubt they're will be many goals next year.

Any rumours who will succeed him?

Get this appointment right and I'd back you to get a Europa spot next season.

Schanzer being linked with Darmstadt's, Roman Bregerie (the former Dresden player right?). Can't see it myself as why he would leave Darmstadt considering they too have been promoted - maybe it would be a matter of money. I do think we need a new defender as we're light in that regards; Gunesch is leaving and Roger is better on the bench in my opinion! That leaves us with only Huebner and Matip; so someone is defnitely needed, I'd take Heintz from "Slautern or someone like Torrejon or Mitrovic from Freiburg.

I'd also like to see some new central midfielders brought in, as squad depth is a huge problem for us. Morales is wasteful in my opinion, so I'd go for Alexander Ring who's been great for Kaiserslautern, or even Jenssen but he's been injured I think. I'd even attempt to sign Felix Klaus from Freiburg, but he's probably destined for better things. We've finally also been linked with Kachunga from Paderborn, although I can't say I've seen too much of him.

Really looking forward to both relegation matches; although it'd be sad to see 1860 drop to the third level I for one would love to see Kiel in the higher levels - as the North of Germany doesn't have that many teams in the top two levels. Especially along the North coast since we lost Hansa three years ago.

Infact if 1860 go down it will have been an awful year for football in Munich! Bayern 'only" winning the league, 1860 dropping into the third tier and the Bobsleighs from 'Haching relegated to the Regionnaliga!

There are a ton of rumours right now and a couple of names are:
Alex Schur (former Eintracht player and a legend at the club, however he has no experience coaching at top level)
Jens Keller (former Eintracht player as well, ex Schalke Coach)
Di Matteo (please not for the sake of god!!)
Sascha Lewandowski (youth coach at Leverkusen and he had a short spell at the main team as well)
Kosta Runjaic (currently coach at Kaiserslautern (Stadt der Inzucht)) ;)

I think Lewandowski might be a good fit, however its sad to see what the Media and some members of our board did to Schaaf. I always found that he was such a nice and calm guy, always friendly and not the worst coach either, he simply doesn't deserve to leave Frankfurt like that. Pisses me off as it causes unnecessary trouble behind the scenes and that's something everyone in Frankfurt is afraid of as we all still remember what it felt like in the early 90´s when we were not just famous for the football we played but for the added drama as well.

@alex: I don't want 1860 to go down to the 3rd division, however in the long run it might be better for them. They would finally leave the dreaded Allianz Arena, play in their ground, in their part of the town and wouldn't feel like the redheaded stepchild of Bayern anymore.

They were always the working class club of München and their identity is Giesing and the Grünwalder Stadion.

Would be a good opportunity to rebuild the team with young and hungry players and just do "their" thing instead of having to rely on their arch enemy.

Hamburg vs. Karlsruhe kicks off tonight at 8.30 German time (7.30 UK) and the second leg is on Monday at 7.30 (6.30 pm UK). Second leg was swapped to the earlier kick off as police is afraid of riots depending on the outcome.

The latest is that Schanzer are linked with Petersen, Polter and Benschop. All would be good signings, but it's definitely good that Hassenhütl and co are looking for a centre forward, as one is definitely needed.

Come on KSC! 1-0 up after 4 minutes in Hamburg...

Funny enough I went to this fixture about 20 years ago when Hamburgs stadium had no roof...boring 0 - 0,this looks nothing like it.

Always found German fans great at any ground I have been to except for Hamburg or St Pauli who have both been twats.
Met a couple in Abu Dhabi in Jan and they were ok but thats not the norm in my experience.

Ps Always liked KSC as at that game about 20 years ago a couple of their fans I met had City scarves, cant be that bad can they? Saw KSC play Kaiserslautern at home a few years ago, that was 0 -0 too!

I know it's not the German bundesliga, but we have no thread for Austrian football.
Wacker Innsbruck play their last game of the season tomorrow and need at least a draw to avoid relegation to the regional league.
The city of Innsbruck have taken the decision to cover the costs of staging the game and it's free entry for everyone. Will be a capacity crowd, the first at the stadium since the euros in 2008.
Wonderful gesture by the club and the city!

How the mighty have fallen. :( Always kept an eye on Wacker due the bond between Frankfurt and Wacker Fans...Hope they stay up!
