I am mildly surprised there isn't a single mention of Ribery's buttock in this thread.
If Badstüber returns to full fitness, I can see him blossoming in this Bayern side. As he is just the type of player Pep likes.Maldeika said:MCFCHOWELL said:Can't wait until Badstüber returns. One of my favourite CB's.
Anyway, who do you guys think will come up this year from the 2. Bundesliga? Whoever it is, will they be like Fürth? I presume Kaiserslautern, Köln and Düsseldorf are up there?
Also, what do you think of Max Meyer, Max Arnold and Timo Werner. They look good players with great futures, but we've seen that with a lot of young players who have ended up being flops.
Badstuber started running this week. But it take awhile until he will be matchfit and after that it will take some time until he is in the shape of before. Maybe he will be able to play at the end of the season in some dead rubbers. I hope he will be fine next season.
Köln should make it. But the second (and maybe the third as that team has to play against the 16th of the Bundesliga in the relegation matches) spot there is five or six teams running for.
The young ones - are quality but you cannot say right now how high their ceiling will be. They should atleast be very good Bundesligaplayers - but it could be more. Time will tell.

Others were right the criticism and abuse he would get might destroy a young player. I think only managers like Ferguson or Mourinho could protect him. It's best he stays in Schalke and focuses on making them a force. If they believed they would have a shot at beating Madrid, but we all know they won't believe.
What made you change your mind? The problem is always that this guys will change with a big transfer sum - that makes fans greedy and impatient. And the premier league is a lot more physical.
Magath is coach in Fulham now. Make a bet on Fulham not going down. He is the best fireworker - none of the teams he took over in bad situation was relegated. It will be the fittest team in the league...
Sascha Riether played 77 matches with Magath before at Wolfsburg - Holtby some at Schalke - Dejagah 106 matches.

Yes this in the main reason, but even things I have heard from my own fans about players at a low level have changed my mind. Draxler should be happy he stayed.Rotweiss said:Maldeika said:supercrystal7 said:I take back my words about English teams being patient with Draxler if he had moved for a big price. Probably because of the stick Ozil has been getting lately.
The moment Draxler has a bad spell and the media will be all over him. Such a young player might be affected very badly by that.

"While in charge of Wolfsburg during a training camp in July 2008 in Switzerland Magath declared after a team lunch that training would be canceled for the day. Instead the players would be rewarded with coffee and cake at a nearby location with the provision that the players retain their training attire just in case. As the players prepared to board the gondola that took them up the mountain to the coffee house their delight was soon replaced with horror as Magath told them they would get there by running the full 2362 meters. They ran for two and a half hours straight up the hill with Magath running right behind the team. Their star striker Grafite collapsed before the end and had to be carried down the valley on a stretcher while other players broke down in tears as they reached the summit where they were finally able to enjoy their coffee and cake."
Would be interesting to see St Pauli get promoted. But it would be a shame to see HSV relegated at the same time, because that would be some derby.Ruhr said:MCFCHOWELL said:Anyway, who do you guys think will come up this year from the 2. Bundesliga? Köln seems to be on their way back to the Bundesliga. Obviously i´m not happy about that. But to be fair, as a club they belong in the Bundesliga. Historically they were the main force behind the introduction of the Bundesliga in the 1960s.
The rest is up to Fürth, Kaiserslautern, KSC, Union Berlin or St. Pauli.
Kaiserslautern is one of the clubs with the biggest tradition in the country, Union and St. Pauli would be great for the atmosphere. I think, it is too early for KSC and Fürth is only interesting for Nürnberg, the oldest derby in germany.
Good point regarding Arnold. I just hope all three have the time to develop and aren't bought for ridiculous fees at such a youngsupercrystal7 said:MCFCHOWELL said:Can't wait until Badstüber returns. One of my favourite CB's.

Maz Meyer and Timo Werner are special talents and could reach the top of the game. I don't rate Arnold as high as those two, but he has a powerful, accurate shot and has a knack for scoring goals.
If I was to compare the three to otherplayers.
Max Meyer is like Gotze, though not as talented. I think he needs to try and take a few more risk, but he is very young and growing in confidence.
Timo Werner is like a young Michael Owen, but not quite as explosive or clinical yet. Needs a bit more composure in front of goal and perhaps to play upfront. He is a bigger and stronger man than Owen was at the same age.
Arnold reminds me of a young Lampard, but he does not have Lampard's incredible fitness.
EDIT
Usually I would want Fulham to stay up, but they are competing with my team Crystal Palace so I would rather Magath not do very well. Holtby has only recently moved. Saw him against United where I thought he did well with what he had and he seemed to have a good game from the highlights against Liverpool.

He is the equivalent of Fat Sam and Pulis in the PL. Completely outdated style of football.....
