As predicted, when the story first broke... the police are indeed now treating this as a gang attack rather than a burglary.

I always suspected this wasn't as clear-cut as first reported.
and where do you get this info from?

Re: Peter Flanagan

This seems to be a bit more than attempted burglary. "Wrong house"? Four of them? Something doesn't add up.

i have done it before when living on sale racecourse estate.
my missus woke me up in the night saying she could hear some one breaking in, i ran downstairs and this guy was halfway in my living room window.
I picked up my rounders bat and cracked him round the face...

Play much do you? ;-)

Shame you didn't play axe throwing.
i always have a bat of some sort at the ready as long as it does the job eh.

I've heard fruit bats are quite a good deterrent

Must be something about the Racecourse and rounders bats, seems to be the weapon of choice when it comes to dealing with intruders.

Re: Peter Flanagan

There's more to this than meets the eye.

Firstly, in a normal suburban house such as that, you don't get a gang of 4 all balaclava'd up. Most burglaries are opportune, and they will try for open doors before anything else. Secondly, said burglars tend not to make a noise of smashing the door in, especially if there's someone in.

No, for my money there are two scenarios. Either, as someone said, they've got the wrong house and these goons have tried to burst in on the wrong people for a drugs debt or some other score to settle, OR the householder or someone in the house was up to something that they shouldn't be, and no one knew about it. Said idiots therefore came to the right house, but because they were expected, they got cunted off big style.

The cops know something is amiss, hence the massive forensic area covered. That wouldn't happen for a normal attempted blag gone wrong.

Re: Peter Flanagan

How long has peter flanagan lived there? Is he originally from the flanagan family in didsbury? back in the 60s 70s, peter paddy and paul flanagan were 3 of the nastiest family for miles around. their sister mary was the hardest of the lot! red scum as well.
Haven't seen any of them for 30 years. Just wondered.
