I think he should be put in jail.
Although I think you should be able to defend your property and damage the person in doing so you shouldn't be allowed to kill them unless it's kill or be killed.

Are you for real?

A balaclava clad gang break into his house, what do you think he should have done, ask them to kindly leave his property?

Fuck him and his scum mates.
Well to be honest I don't know the full details. But if my house was being robbed yes I'd grab a knife or anything I could find to make sure the people robbing me weren't getting away but I wouldn't kill them. I would though if they were armed and threatening to kill me..

Re: Burglar stabbed to death, Manchester

The one thing this Tory Government can do right is introduce the new legislation to prevent this kind of rubbish. As others have said no doubt the homeowner will get more years than the three put together if they're caught. Utter joke.

Re: Burglar stabbed to death, Manchester

it obviously depends how many times he's been stabbed

if it's in double figures, then the guy should get arrested

you only need to do it once.

Maybe, i'm speaking more in general terms though.

No, I agree with you. You have a complete right to defend your property and yourself.

Fortunately enough I live in a "nice" area now, but when I have lived in less nice areas I too had a weapon by the side of the bed!

But the force has to be reasonable, that means not chasing after them, or hitting them from behind, or battering them because they're robbing scum!

You only can do enough to protect yourself.

Tony Martin prepared himself, and shot him while attempting to flee, and that was the reason why it was not deemed reasonable.

Once might not be enough. Imagine you are in that situation and the frenzy/fear kicks in. You won't just lash out once and then check to see if he/she needs another stabbing to make sure, you'd lash out as many times needed until the fucker goes down. Double figures is extreme, but I would imagine a good 4 or 5 would happen if you were in that frenzied state.
I fucking hate thieves with a passion.

I see your point about shooting the kid whilst he was legging it away I suppose, but I thought the story went that he shot Brendon Fearon whilst he was in the act of robbing him, or at least whilst he was still in the property? Either way though, for me he had the right idea and obviously did what he felt he needed to do at that time.
My car got broken into last October and the Sat Nav nicked, which I had stupidly left in. I saw them do it and instantly grabbed my snooker cue but Mrs P begged me not to go out because there were 3 of them and who knows what they would have had. I thought afterwards though that if I had at least gone out and knocked one of them out with the cue, I suspect I would have been in cuffs instead of them. People don't even feel they are allowed to defend their property anymore.

There's a lesson to be learnt from this story lads.... Be careful whose back doors you smash in.

The home owner wants to get that Arran Coghlan's lawyer on his side.

If someone broke into my house in the dark of the night, I'd assume they were at risk of harming me in order to steal what they want. Therefore, I should be able to act in self defence.
