We had a steady start to the year....May and June were excellent, turnover well up....July and August absolute shite, it died on its arse, battled like fuck to break even.....September hasn't started great either......it is very up and down, I can judge if it's just me or the industry through my Wholesalers and there trends were exactly the same....so hopefully a little upturn is around the corner, just a couple of decent months will do

what trade is that?
Electrical Contractors

I always found summer slow, winter is good when everyone realises you need light and heat

Yeah that's true....plenty of outside lighting, when it's pissing down, freezing and dark, that's the nature of the game we're in

A lot of our work is commercial and regular customers but they are just not spending there cash for obvious reasons.....then all of a sudden they start then as quick as they start spending they stop and start putting jobs back a month and then it becomes the next month

I know what will happen they will all start throwing work at us at the same time.....feast or famine

Own betting shops.

This last 18 months has been poor.
We do work for Ladbrokes via a facilities management company and they are closing shops every week, they do open some new ones but not as many.....so in your game you're not on your own even the big boys are feeling it

I know. Everyone in the game is struggling casinos and machine operators too.

Sign of the times.

Think high street betting shops are becoming a thing of the past unfortunatley with online taking over.

Own sheet materials and timber business

Tend to supply more shopfitters, furniture manufacturers joiners etc than the building game

Turnover up every month this year apart from July, this month is dogshit to be honest,as ever its getting paid that is the hard work, usually very busy from now til Christmas.Margins are healthy though so should be a reasonable year.

Funny that to me there seems to be more betting shops than ever, especially in town. Fred the Rag seem to have one around every corner now.

They saying december/jan will sort out a lot more...
Ive had to cut back big time with pay increases, bonuses and so on.
