Can we cut Edin a break?

Džeko had an all round good game yesterday. He made mistakes and isn't playing with confidence. But the biggest noises in the ground apart from the goals came when Edin miscontrolled it, which is a fucking joke for me.

Support? Yeah right! People can't wait to slate him.

Vincent hasn't played well yet this season and the way he showed Johnson inside for QPR's goal was school boy stuff, yet there weren't people slamming their seats down to make a big banging noise ("look at me i can make a loud noise at the footy") and shouting "that's fucking shit Kompany" like they do when Edin merely miscontrols the ball or stands off-side.

Get behind him for fuck's sake!
And you could see him feed off those groans, he's clearly a confidence player and we need to get behind him regardless of how he's playing.

I like the guy but you must admit its hard to stifle a "For fucks sake" when he miss controls or blasts well wide of the goal!

Saying that, when he does something well I react to that in a positive way but if the whole crowd don't notice at the same time it doesn't get the same recognition?

Basically, its easier to hear frustration than celebration for anything other than a great challenge or a goal as they are natural reactions.

I think there's a middle ground. He serves a purpose and deserves starts now and again as shown yesterday. I even think he's a lots more skillful than people give him credit for - he beats his man quite a lot for a big guy.

But, yes I agree I don't think you can argue that tevez and aguero would be first choice. I just think people go overboard, and as mentioned you can clearly feel an attitude in the crowd when dzeko miscontrols or miss places a pass that it validates their feeling he's crap. Yet the same situation with different players passes unnoticed as its an accepted part of football.

Ballotelli as well is clearly class and 'unplayable' on his day and I'm just so happy we have all 4. The people saying watch match of the day it'll be better cause we'll only see the goals - there are plenty of top strikers that miss chances and mess up and I suspect if we brought in one of these players we'd get to know they're not 100% accurate goal machines either. If we're being realistic who else would be that much better than dzeko and willing to play second fiddle that it would be worth getting rid?

We're champions and everyone's played a role - we've got 4 of the best strikers in the world/Europe.

What's not to love.
well said pal

Exactly.

My only gripe with edin is he drops back and drifts to the wing too often. After they scored, he stayed up top and the chances flowed. Maicon and kolarov should get him some good crosses in if he only stays as a striker and not in tevez role.

The entire point of this thread, as the name suggests - was to cut Edin some break in appreciation for what he did for this club already in his time here.

But guess that's not happening - so might as well delete the thread :-)

Never did I say he is flawless - just that a lot of fans here go way overboard with their comments.

People bash me for "worshipping" him but the truth is - for those same people Dzeko can never have a good game so that tells the whole story.

If you dont like him-fine, just refrain from nasty comments about the lad and it will do...

Just sayin'.

Well said that Man. City fans have been destroyig players on the pitch for as long as I've been watching them (50 years).
Be positive on BM and be positive in the ground and watch the player(s) respond.
Not rocket science

What does criticism or praise of a player actually achieve ??

It gives us sommat to talk about...thats all.
Critisising a player for playing badly will not neccessarily make him play better next game and praising a player for playing well doesnt guarantee he will play well the next game..

Its one game at a time and we have won 2 and drawn away 1..

Will be out the side when Aguero returns cant wait for it.

Im sorry but even after he scored yesterday we still found ourselves kicking chairs as somehow he managed to stray offside when tevez slipped him in and he never saw the flag and missed a sitter which was one on one. we cant afford to miss changes like that its simple.
