Lol that's a good point so maybe I should rephrase that. Winning the UEFA Cup isn't considered as pretiguous in world football as getting into the Champions League. Do you reckon the scum will take down THAT banner if we win the UEFA Cup? They'll say it doesn't count as a major trophy. If City were in Villa's position I'd be glad if we'd done what Villa did. But we're not and if we win it, yes, I will be a very happy little bunny.

Being in the CL, even briefly will have major financial and prestige effects for Villa.

They may not compete but imagine the summer transfer targets they could have touting themselves as "a new ambitious team challenging in the CL".

They'll be in the exact position we dream of being in at the ned of next season, less financial clout, but their owner is no pauper and with a few CL players, Villa could become a real force.

Not that i agree, but i understand why he's done it... the financial pay off for finishing higher up the league is at least £500,000 per position, what do you get for winning the Uefa Cup?

Because the Champions League is worth about 10 times the revenue of the UEFA Cup. If they get Champions League they get more prestige, more money to spend on players, and can progress the club. Winning the UEFA Cup isn't that great.

Must admit it does not make sense, you spend all season striving for European qualification in your domestic league, and then demean the whole competition, maybe UEFA should ban them for bringing the game in to disrepute,.

Would be ironic if they ended up with nothing more than UEFA Cup qualification this season, why bother entering it again?

Personally I don’t think they are even a top 4 side, they have been lucky so many big teams under performing this season, and they have hardly caught the eye.

Just don’t think they are a top 4 side, infact I think when a couple of the sides underperforming click they will become a top 5 or 6 side again

I've got quite a few Villa fans at work and they are split really.


If I was a Villa fan I'd be pissed off.2 or 3 changes I could take but to make 8 changes and practically surrender is not on IMO.Villas season started in July and they went through the intertoto to get into europe.Why enter in the 1st place if its such an inconvienence.This was not the 1st time he rung the changes,and they were soundly beated by Hamburg and lost at home to Zilna.

If he felt his squad wasnt strong enough then why not bring in more than just Heskey?
I think that MoN and Aston Villa's downfall in the future will be O'Neill reluctance to buy foreign or so called 'overpriced' players.

Quite simple, its because the Champions league is where the money is at along with the attraction to bigger names/better players. O'Neill imo has the potential to be the best manager in the prem in a few years and is very astute when it comes to attracting players. He is building for the future and I wish to fuck we had him instead. One season and one trophy doesnt make you into a legend, ensuring you have the potential for the future does.

Thought for a while I might need to eat less, exercise more, fat free diet, but I wouldn't want to lose the weight contained in both buttocks only a couple of matches into the season having had them 'bored' off by the anal windbag. Keep him at Villa, or anywhere but CoMS. Don't know why these teams enter in the first place. They bust a gut to get in Europe, no sooner in it, and they want out. Give it to teams who are going to put out the main squad.

Seriously I even have trouble with the fact that the EUFA Cup is now not good enough for a poxy outfit from the Midlands.

I will take a EUFA Cup final win over anything, because I want to City win silverware, I would take it over a 4th place finish for the memories alone.

Shouldn’t you learn to walk before you can run? Forgive me if I am wrong but also haven’t clubs who have done well in the EUFA Cup done better in the Champions League, is it not the right way to evolve?

The press talk about City ruining football let me tell these wankers something it is Clubs like City that give these sort of competitions prestige, clubs like Villa are a disgrace and all that is wrong in football today.

Villa think they are going to become a major player just because of a half decent campaign in an unusually dour premiership.
