Carabao Cup R3 Draw | Newcastle (A)

Not an ideal draw, but at least this year Newcastle have CL to contend with so the Carabao will be less of a priority for them. Feels like sacrilege to say it, but it might not be a bad thing in the long run if we went out early anyway, with the World Club Championship looming.
Looking at the teams who will be left in after this round, there's a very high likelihood we would get a championship or lower side, if we get past Newcastle because half the premier league will be out.

A favourable draw and I'd fancy our chances even if we played the kids while the first team are at the CWC.

The key thing (which a lot of people misunderstand) is that the odds of getting 12 heads in a row are only very high before you start flipping the coin. If you've already gotten 11 in a row then the chance of getting 12 in a row are still only 50:50. United getting a load of home draws in the past is meaningless to the chance of it happening in the future.
Unless they’re being somehow “helped” of course ;)

Talking to a couple of Newcastle season ticket holders this morning they are pretty dissapointed they've drawn us thinking their best chance of a trophy looking very difficult now.

If you want to flip a coin 12 times and hope for heads every time it is 4095/1. If you flipped a coin 12 times and realised after the 12th time you had all heads it is still 4095/1. What you are describing are the odds on getting heads AFTER already achieving 2047/1.

As of now, Newcastle play Sunday before SHU away,
we have Forest at home on Saturday.

To be played on Wednesday 27 Sept then I guess.
CL group matches midweek before and after.

We were certainly not their favourites to be drawn. Let's see how they handle that fixture list...
