Carlitos Tevez doesn't get enough credit for what he's done

People have short memories on here. The greatest player to wear the shirt I've seen. Won us our first major trophy in 35 years. Scored goals for fun. World class player!

His comments also got blown out of proportion on here too, bit like the 'Onuoha-Soccer AM' comments.

He'll be linking up with Silva and co soon enough to form an even better strikeforce.

He's a complete tool. Can't wait for him to go.

Agree 100%. Frankly, I think OP and others like him are the ones with a short memory. Tevez did jack shit for us during long stretches of last season. In fact, other than his (admittedly impressive) brace against a demoralized Stoke, I can't recall him having a single decent PL game for us after January. And, how many of his 20 PL goals were scored from penalties he didn't earn?? Fuck Tevez. We're better without him.

He's done a lot but that's just silly.

He didn't play in the key game, and was overshadowed by at least six players in the final. His performances in the other games were pretty forgettable, missed penalties and all sorts. In total he scored 3 out of our 17 goals, all three coming in the first two rounds.

I'd have to say:

Richards (2 goals from RB, one very crucial vs Reading, plus at least one assist),

Yaya (MOTM in the semi, scored in both the semi and final),

Vieira (three goals from midfield),

and Hart Lescott & Kompany (four clean sheets in the final four games)...

even Balotelli (1 goal, hit the post twice, led the line in the semi, clear MOTM in the final) and Dzeko (two goals, saved the game at Notts Forest),

IMHO all of these made bigger contributions to our cup run.

football has got very little memory.tevez would have been great if he had not entered in this saga.
he has ruined a lot for his family.though i doubt it.he may be like a split personality... may be all good things will not come in a single package.

Up to now, he's the greatest player ever to pull on our blue shirt.

That's an insult to Colin Bell, Buzzer and Mike Doyle to name but three.

It's not an insult, it's just my opinion.

Colin Bell is a legend, do doubt. But compare Buzzer and Mike Doyle to Tevez is simply stupid. They wouldnt lace is boots.

Tevez is clearly a plonker but I was only talking about what he does on the pitch. Nothing to do with what goes on his head.

I'm a massive Tevez fan for the reasons given, BUT he's not been at the club long enough to come any where near Colin Bell and his off-field antics do need to be taken into account. Football is too high profile to ignor this part.

Carlos Tevez did not fucking win us our first major trophy in 35 years. He didn't even play in the semi final and was certainly not amongst the MOTM's in the final (de Jong, Barry, Yaya, Silva, Hart, Kolarov, Lescott, Kompany, Balotelli).

-- Tue Sep 06, 2011 7:51 am --

It's an insult to Billy Meredith, Horace Barnes, Tommy Johnson, Ernie Towsland, Eric Brook, Fred Tilson, Frank Swift, Peter Doherty, Roy Paul, Bert Trautman, Ken Barnes, Dave Ewing, Colin Bell, Neil Young, Mike Doyle, Dave Watson...

Tevez has been here five minutes and done as many things to get up my nose as he's done to make me happy!

It would be good if this sort of insightful post could be automatically bumped whenever there is yet another post along the lines "Carlitos more or less single-handedly won us our first trophy for 35 years and dragged us into the Champions League".
