So what should Flores do? Hit Carroll back and get a red? Dive in on him and get a red? Ignore it and let someone get away with smacking him in the face?

No, he should roll around and act like a massive fucking pussy.
Still have not answered what he should do. I guess you are a believer in turning the other cheek. With camera's, millionaire footballers and red/yellow cards for hard tackles you don't have many options.

I did answer you.

So Rooney can forearm smash Mccarthy of wigan and get a gentle arm around his shoulder from clattenburg, it's the fa who are the sham, they should have dropped it to a yellow the gutless suited prats ?

Big players have always gotten away with things. The ref should not have given a red, but once it is given with the rules the way they are not much that can be done.

You can be sarcastic all you want, but at the end of the day if you are footballer concerned about winning the game there are only two options.
1. Get the ref to notice what your opponent had done either by faking injury or talking to hiim
2. Take being slapped and walk away.

Cheers, I ammend my post to say that florres is a massive pussy.

EDIT
On the rugby pitch I would have dump tackled or crashed into them later as well as having a word.
On the football pitch I would gone in hard and had a word.
On the street I would probably hit them back.

What can a professional footballer do when an opponent slaps them in the face?
Carroll didn't hit him in the face. He touched the top of his head ever so slightly. Watch it again!

The intent is there for all to see.

It was obvious, at least to me, that Carroll had it in mind to hit Flores. The movement of his arm is unnatural and swings further around than it would have under normal circumstances.

Carroll deserved the red and the FA was right to uphold Webb's original decision.

I watched it and was not really talking about Carroll, but more cases like the Ronaldo and Torres ones. Carroll got sent off, because the ref thought he had intent. If somebody comes up to you and scratches/slaps your face; sunday League you can square up to him or take him out later as retribution. Not at the top level.

Say Tiote slaps Toure. The ref does not see. Toure is really angry and smacks him or takes him out later on. Toure gets a red, City go down to 10 men. City then draw against Newcastle and then lose against Chelsea and Tottenham. In the end it cost you the league. You just cannot do that anymore. Either you take the slap and keep your anger in check or you exaggerate to get them sent off.

He did the right thing - he made out Carroll smashed his skull so hard that he had to roll in agony on the floor , I don't even blame him and in fact if I was a manager I would encourage my players to do the same because what the FA have proved tonight is cheaters do prosper and you can con and act the ref and get away with it

The ref saw the attempt Mark bud, i have seen it in a video editor from many angles and he saw him do it defo.
He will know Flores was theatrical but the fact remains he broke a rule and it was punished the only way the letter of the law allows.

I know it's your club but come on mate Flores is a twat and a marde **** but Carroll got caught red handed bud.

I'm not being an arse either, when Balo went for a stamp on squadron leader Parker i called him out and went to town on gifs showing he had intent.
This resulted in a three day war between blue tinteds and fair play fans on the balo thread.
So i won't bend it for our players or any other, i will call it as it is, always.

As another poster mentioned, you have to have the mentality of a buddhist monk nowadays as a player or opposition will play on it.

Only seen this briefly but the intent was there from Carroll. I don't know if he'd been hit first but the look on his face said it all. Flores rolling around didn't help and he should have had some sort of action taken against him too.

The major problem is inconsistency from the refs and FA regarding these incidents. Gary Neville dived in two footed in his last game, he was very very late and missed his target, but he should have been red carded because of the two footed challenge. As has been said before Rooney and van Persie have forearm smashed opponents and got away with a talking too when they should have walked. Richards conceded a penalty in the League Cup semi a few seasons ago and yet when it happened against Spurs last week the incident was ignored, which may have been why we got a penalty in the 2nd half to even it up.

The Chelsea manager and some pundits thought Nastasic was last man and should have had a red on Monday, yet Terry got a red a few years ago against us for a similar but much more clear cut case and then had it rescinded. So Chelsea got him back.

The inconsistences in the game are the thing that frustrates players, fans and managers more than anything. The refs have a tough job with the pace of the game and the sooner the games are reffed in the top leagues like rugby the better. Immediate video evidence from the 4th or a 5th official and the ref booking players for answering back. The first couple of games would be "interesting" but players would soon get the message and stop trying to cheat the ref. Nearly all players now contest every throw-in, corner and free-kick. If the ref is the only one reffing then this will be good for the game.

The example will be set by those at the top off the game, and this is what influences the kids who watch the sport. Even if UEFA and FIFA won't do it then our FA should lead the way and introduce this first.

And it also sends a clear message to young kids that if someone brushes your hair your entitled to con the ref and hold your face in extreme agony.

It was a tussle and a yellow at worst,
The Swansea manager even admitted it wasn't a red.

The FA have to be seen to back there man Webb and were never going to show some balls and punish the real cheat, Chico Flores.

Joke decision

It is a joke decision. It pales into insignificance compared to some of the shit Rooney's got away with!
100% agree with this.
