CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

Well i got a response, and i think its fair to say that someone has been well and truly put in their place......

"how rude, no ignorance pal"

Great comeback there - he’s really got to grip with the key points of the post, and showed you his argument genuinely stacks up against an articulate, reasoned and detailed analysis.

Oh, wait.......

Why do I get the feeling that he only bothered to read the last paragraph and objected to being referred to as ignorant. But he is, and wilfully so. Our detractors simply don't deal in facts. And that is what we are still up against despite the CAS ruling.

Whatever happens with the judgement I think City should do everything they can to ensure that our "irrefutable" evidence gets into the public domain. It would be a disgrace if UEFA are allowed to block publication of the judgement. I agree with your point about Ceferin though. He is a clever operator and knows this boil has to be lanced.

I think we would, if we wanted to. I don't think we want the whole world knowing our private affairs. It will be select pieces at best, based around what the CAS final report will be. Khaldoon may touch on aspects in an interview, but for the most part our private and confidential affairs will remain such. In any case, I reckon anything from our evidence we wish to be out there will be in the CAS report, anything not included we don't want to be in the public domain. The CAS report limitations will be largely down to how much UEFA want revealed about their side of things, and that will be a judgement for Ceferin and the lawyers on, given the structure of UEFA, how much they want revealed that will construct the CAS report narrative to suit his reforms, without damaging UEFA as a whole. I think this is why City and UEFA have had previous discussions and continue to do so, to agree upon a message both sides can ultimately benefit from on the promise that this sort of thing never happens again.

How long before they now start spouting about a European league invite only? Not sure how they are going to push that this is good for competition and football.

Great post PB. I'd just take a slight issue with Gibson's money rebuilding the stadium. I assume you're referring to the post war reconstruction. Neither Gibson nor United paid a penny towards the extensive costs of rubble clearance and rebuilding. Gibson "used his influence" (we all know what that means) to successfully lobby for the costs to come out of public funds in an austerity ridden UK.

"When the Luftwaffe bombed the Old Trafford stadium in 1941, it was again Gibson who was the club's saviour, using his influence to ensure Parliament would provide funding for United." A quote from an old article I saved for any rags who deny this ever happened.

United receiving state funding? Never! Actually, didn’t this also happen in 1965 when they received government money to build the cantilever stand in advance of the World Cup?
So Old Trafford has twice been funded for ruibuilding/improvements by the state, with tax payers money?

“We paid for your home
We paid for your hoooome
What a waste of Council Tax
We paid for your home”

People who use Twitter aren’t the sort of people who’ll read a full report on a court case from another club.

Twitter football fans can barely string a sentence together. They don’t even understand the CAS press release from Monday that’s only just over one page long... or they don’t want to!

The press and social media set the narrative five minutes after the statement of Not Guilty came out and, unfortunately, across most of football’s fans, forever more, we will be known for “getting away with it”.
I wasn't really thinking about football fans, I was thinking more about the twitter "journalists" that attack us on there, you'd hope they would read it, but as @Ric says, probably never.

Old Trafford, the original Manchester “Council House” stadium!

Plus of course the club didn't pay a penny towards the costs of construction of OT in the first place. That was covered 100% by their first sugar daddy John Henry Davies. And the rags have the brass neck to claim City got a free stadium.

Just out of curiosity because I don’t know but who paid for Maine road to be built?
