This article?Great post PB. I'd just take a slight issue with Gibson's money rebuilding the stadium. I assume you're referring to the post war reconstruction. Neither Gibson nor United paid a penny towards the extensive costs of rubble clearance and rebuilding. Gibson "used his influence" (we all know what that means) to successfully lobby for the costs to come out of public funds in an austerity ridden UK.

Plus Newton Heath were moved to Trafford Park in Stretford. The stadium isn’t actually in Old Trafford, but he pinched LCCC’s stadium name to make it more famous; and City were already called MANCHESTER City, but he took that name when not many other teams who shared a city shared a name.
Newton Heath played in yellow green and black. He punched Salford RLFC’s club colours of red and white. Then in the 1930s, after Salford had toured France and beaten every team they faced with the French press calling them Les Diables Rouges, United pinched that nickname n’all.
They’re a bit of a mongrel club, made up of other Mancunian sports clubs’ names and iconography.

Theoretically it should not matter because our main owner bought into the football sector as he has done in many other sectors expecting competition from all sources ie pre the skewed anti investment FFP rule.I think we have reached that day with the victory at CAS.
We will in my opinion start to dine at the top table.
But what will be our owners reaction if the Saudi takeover becomes reality at Newcastle and they throw 100s of millions to make Newcastle a superpower?
If Newcastle become a threat to us or even push the wages/ going transfer rate up, will our owners be happy? I think not, but time will tell.
In other words he backs his business plan against all others and was prepared to invest massively to make our club profitable. He has succeeded.
They already do thanks to IC leaks, which, of course, were nothing to do with the highly honorable Mr. Parry.I think we would, if we wanted to. I don't think we want the whole world knowing our private affairs.

I think you misread.
It was just a joke on VAR after the last week. Whereas I’m not 100% it is corrupt we always feel we get the rough end and our rivals get the rub of the green.
Since the restart I have not been as emotional invested in football and do feel I can be a bit more objective. Have to say there could be something in it.
On FFP agree not on fight and does benefit us, however if the rules where to be removed I’d have no issue with any other teams owner investing.

I love the Sheikh gets bored bit and oil running out. Do you think Sheikh Mansour would leave his personal fortune and the country that he resides in exposed to the oil running out? This guy propped up Barclays Bank over a decade ago and made a killing out of it. He owns the Chrysler building in New York, he has investments in Ferrari. The guys got his own F1 circuit.
You look at the UAE and how it’s grown over the last 40 years where they are now pursuing a knowledge based economy. I don’t think they are worrying about oil suddenly vanishing.
If hypothetically he decided to sell up one day there would be now shortage of people wanting a piece of it. The Chinese would probably look at growing their share as they have a market to sell the club too. There are no certainties in football but if Mansour packed up we suddenly wouldn’t find ourselves in division 2.
Exactly. This is how stupid the “City are fucked if Mansour sells up” crowd are. If he does then he’ll sell the club to someone with serious ambitions and clout. He won’t be selling it to the likes of Simon Jordan ffs!
