Cashless society

Yeah I suppose, scams and that.

But if you're a drug dealer or importer it'd be hard if there was no cash.
Also dealing in stolen goods etc.

Prostitutes might struggle a bit though.
The dark Web is how drugs are bought and sold. Crypto currency etc. Yes the Junkie on the street might have cash but the Colombian dealer is trading online with the Turkish mafia in London.

@bluethrunthru you say that but think of it this way. My mam is 88. She can't do online banking. She is just too old. One day you will be 88 and unable to cope with modern life, what will you do ?
It's not a conspiracy theory.
She got an appointment letter for the hospital. Without any explanation on the letter, she was meant to know to scan the QR code onto her mobile phone (that she hasn't got) to get the directions to the ward.
I'm 65 and I was with her and didn't know that either. It's different to what we are discussing but it's the same point. Take cash away and a lot of people are fucked.
Small traders will be forced out of business for one.
Agree its a nightmare for the elderly, my mam is 94 and anything that needs to be done online has to be done by me or my brother. Doing away with cash or even worse moving to payment by mobile phone app rather than card would be a nightmare.

Latest one was a letter she got from one of her pension providers saying that they had a data breach and their mitigation was to provide her with free access to one of these online credit checking agencies to see if anyone was using her details fraudulently. Needless to say they have been contacted and told that its insufficient and unacceptable for a woman in her 90s and that they are in breach of the Data Protection Act and remain liable for any financial losses incurred and emotional stress caused. In the meantime we've had to mess about changing her accounts over to new banks.

It's a good point about pubs. I mentioned the tram ripping me off but at least I got my money back. You can't ring the Dog and Duck 4 days later and say you've been overcharged.

It's not good point though, you can check you balance instantly on the app and then tell the bartender. Takes seconds.
