I have to agree. I would want stonewall guarantees to be paying that amount of money. Does anybody have a stat of how many goals he scored discounting penalties? I mean look at Balo absolutely tearing it up in Italy, and he couldn't even get a sniff here. Im in no way saying that this will be the case, but there is a small possibility, and £53M is one hell of a risk to bank on.

I saw the press conference, and he said they'd make a few signings but that "hard work" is what will really improve their squad in the long run. I think he's trying to do away with the reputation he's gotten that he just buys buys buys when he wants to win. But they'll be in for a marquee striker almost certainly. I think Napoli are trying to use Chelsea to put pressure on City. They're confirmed by DiMarzio to have made at least 2 bids for him in the last week. Whether or not they get him is debatable, but they're definitely in for him.
