Suggested last week that Lewandowski would be a more prudent bet than Cavani, in relation to cost, age and what we could do with that money elsewhere.
Just think about it, we are already committed to interest in both Cavani and Isco.
Lewandowski would command over £30m if he were not in the final 12 months of his contract.
He is available for around £20m, the same valuation we have on Dzeko.
For whatever reason, he fancies a fresh start, unless Pellegrini is eventually forced to get him to reconsider his position.
A direct swap would be neutral towards our ongoing spending plans. Lewandowski would earn similar wages to Dzeko wherever he goes, Cavani's would come in at least £100k a week more.
I would argue Lewandowski can settle quicker in England than Cavani and already speaks the language.
And the argument for me, at least, we would still have best part of £40m to buy two more world class players, perhaps another striker more in the mould of a Martinez or Benzema?
Lewandowski comes with a decent chance of further sell-on value, Cavani has none, except at a massive loss.
There does seem to be a theme from some blues they would rather get that big name for the purpose of bragging rights, what others may think of us, than what it does for the team.
Cavani is a brilliant player, no doubt, but with the money we have at our disposal, out team would be just as formidable with Lewandowski and another £25m striker.
Added to a Thiago or another worker bee.
He's only 26. Personally i'd trigger his release clause and get Tevez off the wage bill. I don't think we can always worry about sell on values. We need one or two in their prime and this guys a fucking beast. Cavani = title and chance in Champions League for me.
I know you are offering reasoned thought but out of interest, what would you do?
I would seriously go get Cavani AND Lewandowski.
If we want to win both the Premier League and have a good go at the Champs League.
Keep seeing Dzeko's name mentioned in the swap with Cavani but the lad is not interested in a move to Napoli and his people keep insisting on Germany.
Swap Dzeko for Lewandowski, it costs us nothing.
Sell Tevez for £10m but more importantly, his £10m a year wages off the books.
Added to the £20m we got for Mario, Cavani costs us £23m in real terms.
There are plenty of games to go around. Send Guidetti out on loan.
Use the money saved to bring in a decent left-back option and centre-back.
