I am not sure Cavani really wants to move from Napoli. His contract ends in 2016 and will probably renegotiate his contract after the Confederations Cup. ADL is encouraging a bidding war and he is in a winning situation.

Cavani will move if someone pays up: needs to win things.

Rafa Benitez will give him that wish. He is not a bad manager imo.

No, but he will be up against it to win Serie A or UCL at Napoli.

Am i the only one that thinks Lewandowski is more or less a carbon copy of Dzeko???

Look very similar playing wise.

Napoli reject £34 million plus Torres for Cavani as Real Madrid look set to swoop in.

Id say this finally rules out Chelsea,Torres doesnt fancy Italy for a start

We perhaps now are in the box seat and hold the cards price wise

Translation?

But Dzeko doesnt want to go to Napoli either it seems.

Right. And if it's a cash war between Chelsea and us, I bet they'll go higher.

I can see Dzeko bagging 20-25+ if we play dramatically quicker (which we seem apparent to do) this season: think Madrid away, West Brom away, Spurs away in 2011, even Spurs home this year.

In that game, Dzeko scored not on a quick counter, but simply a decisive attack. We don't have to be a counterattacking team to get the best out of Dzeko (though it wouldn't hurt, and we will be much better at it this year) but just one that moves the ball more incisively and decisively.

Think of his goals at Spurs away in 2011: none of them came on the counter but as a result of QUICK, decisive buildup, not simply knocking the ball around the 18 for a full minute to end up with a shit cross or otherwise broken play.

And it's worth noting that Silva and Dzeko actually combine quite well.

Yup

A straight swap for dzeko wouldnt be a bad thing.......as an alternative to Cavani it would weaken our squad if we lost tevez

Tevez aguero Cavani - best option but very unlikely imho

Aguero Lewandowski Cavani - next best option

Aguero Lewandowsi Dzeko - worst scenario......little pace or ability to create for themselves

(not a team set up btw)

Suggested last week that Lewandowski would be a more prudent bet than Cavani, in relation to cost, age and what we could do with that money elsewhere.

Just think about it, we are already committed to interest in both Cavani and Isco.

Lewandowski would command over £30m if he were not in the final 12 months of his contract.

He is available for around £20m, the same valuation we have on Dzeko.

For whatever reason, he fancies a fresh start, unless Pellegrini is eventually forced to get him to reconsider his position.

A direct swap would be neutral towards our ongoing spending plans. Lewandowski would earn similar wages to Dzeko wherever he goes, Cavani's would come in at least £100k a week more.

I would argue Lewandowski can settle quicker in England than Cavani and already speaks the language.

And the argument for me, at least, we would still have best part of £40m to buy two more world class players, perhaps another striker more in the mould of a Martinez or Benzema?

Lewandowski comes with a decent chance of further sell-on value, Cavani has none, except at a massive loss.

There does seem to be a theme from some blues they would rather get that big name for the purpose of bragging rights, what others may think of us, than what it does for the team.

Cavani is a brilliant player, no doubt, but with the money we have at our disposal, out team would be just as formidable with Lewandowski and another £25m striker.

Added to a Thiago or another worker bee.

He's only 26. Personally i'd trigger his release clause and get Tevez off the wage bill. I don't think we can always worry about sell on values. We need one or two in their prime and this guys a fucking beast. Cavani = title and chance in Champions League for me.

I know you are offering reasoned thought but out of interest, what would you do?

I would seriously go get Cavani AND Lewandowski.

If we want to win both the Premier League and have a good go at the Champs League.

Keep seeing Dzeko's name mentioned in the swap with Cavani but the lad is not interested in a move to Napoli and his people keep insisting on Germany.

Swap Dzeko for Lewandowski, it costs us nothing.

Sell Tevez for £10m but more importantly, his £10m a year wages off the books.

Added to the £20m we got for Mario, Cavani costs us £23m in real terms.

There are plenty of games to go around. Send Guidetti out on loan.

Use the money saved to bring in a decent left-back option and centre-back.

The only question for me regarding this would be if Dortmund could match Dzeko's current wage or would we take that into consideration as part of any deal?

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 301 onwards)

Why not keep what we have and buy Lewanwhotsisname, tell him he can go Bayern in 2 years, by then the next sensation will be upon us, jobs a good un apart from second place nexy season if rent boys get Cavani. How much do you think they would sell lukaku for

little pace besides aguero who is very quick over short bursts...dont get me wrong I wouldnt sway aquero for virtually any striker you can name...my arguement here is that that last set of options is the worst as it offers the least (but not down to aguero)

ps thanks for the vid...i enjoyed watching that again :-)

Rekik as LB back up? or not good enough??

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 301 onwards)

I would swap dzeko and lewandowski . Then negociate for cavani as well though I have a gut feeling he will end up at Real. If not I would go for jackson martinez loan guidetti for a season but only to a prem team...see where all that ends up and if a decent offer come in for carlos t... take it.
