Napoli star Edinson Cavani has urged Manchester City and Chelsea to firm up their interest with an official bid for his services..

So basically all that has gone before of the reported bids has been bullshit

Surely it was all solid facts, reported by responsible professional journalists who value their reputation for integrity.... plus the occasional well meaning social media postings of private individuals desiring only to contribute to a common pool of wisdom and knowledge.

This 'GUARANTEED 30 goals a season' stuff is comical. I don't think anyone disputes Cavani is a very good player. Perhaps even great.
But so was Schevchenko and so was Torres and Samaras (Ha ha!) and many more who looked great in other Leagues. There are NO guarantees EVER in Premier League Football.
Samaras didn't even look good in the Dutch league. It was Huntelaar who was banging them in for fun back then.

Price isn't too high if its guaranteed 30 goals a season which was the difference between us winning and losing the league last year, where else will we find that in the market?

I agree Dzeko was even more prolific than Cavani

Also agree. There are some players who are as good as gurantees though. Aguero for example, when we signed him I think most people knew that he was pretty much guranteed to be at least a reasonable success. I don't think the same about Cavani

What about Alfonso Alves in Dutch league - scored 7 goals in one game if I remember rightly

I think Cavani is a quality player but I have to agree. If it means signing two or three players instead we should look else where. If he got injured or anything happened then the money is wasted. I am sure he would score loads more goals. For me Dzeko is a clinical striker and used in the right way could be brilliant for City. He is not a striker who will show the fight and determination of others but if its a case of simply wanting someone to bang them in then he can do that job.

Aguero is also more than capable of scoring 30 a season, last year he was injured and for whatever reason we werent playing to our full abilities. Adding Fernandinho and Navas provides us with more pace and width and that in turn will mean better opportunities for our strikers. I would rather see Tevez leave than Dzeko because we no longer need his drive and determination, he comes deep to pick up the ball but we have better players to occupy that space now. We need someone who can be on the shoulder ready to score. Aguero and Dzeko are both able to do that and offer different things. Dzeko needs to improve his mentality etc but I am sure he will if shown support from management and fans.

I dont want to turn to stats etc as I hate them. When we were a developing side Dzeko would have done nothing for us as a club whereas Tevez was incredible and stats would not take that into account. I just think Tevez's role in our side is no longer needed because he plays more as an attacking midfielder and we have enough of those.
Abolutely spot on <throw that mana fish>

I would be worried however not replacing Tevez with another striker purely for numbers. I want to see Guidetti get a chance too, but Aguero/Dzeko/Guidetti + A N other is a minimum we should be starting next season with

Cavani is quality, and I'd sure like to see him in our Blue, but I won't be throwing the toys out of the pram if we don't land him.

I personally think our "Management" have got us a suprise coming that none of us could see.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

Napoli fans are fed up with Cavani's flirting (with Real, Chelsea, City) and have started putting banners around Naples telling him to leave. Cavani himself seems to have no idea what's going on judging by his latest interview, he claimed to have had no concrete offers yet.

No club is stupid enough to pay 60 million for him.
i would love some pics or links to read/watch napoli fans banners and discussion

Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

The price will have to come down, the player wants to leave this season and the way no club is seemingly willing to pay the full buyout will mean it comes down. We no doubt will be monitoring the situation and will probably bid if the price is reasonable. I am glad the club are not just paying up, he is not that significant a player for us. We will score more next season regardless.

So in short, everything that has been said is bullshit and he could still end up a city. So that means another 300 pages of what we've had. Can't wait.... not.
