If vinnie is that near then i bet belgium call him up for their w/c qualifier,hope we say no

Do we have the right to say no? Won't his contract give Belgium the right to decide if he's fit or not?

Not sure if we can actually stop him going to be looked at but we can try to persuade them,i hope

But some would argue that he is better than Demichelis. And certainly is better value. Why not go for Toby?

I think experience is something that has been specifically targeted by City for whichever defender we'll sign. Nearly every target is 27+ including our #1 target Pepe. And it was clear yesterday leadership is a trait sorely lacking in our defence when Kompany is injured (and he gets injured a hell of a lot). Lescott at his age should have far better organisational and leadership skills but is just a follower who looks half the player without Vinny by his side.

I understand. But Demichelis is almost 33. More experienced yes but could be risky. It's not like that Ajax defender lacks experience. CL experience and 100+ game with Ajax, 20+ caps with Belgium too so should know Vinny as well. Just saying that he wouldn't necessary be a worse option short term. But would certainly be better long term.

Also can play as a right back and is good at free kicks and headers (scoring from corners). Considering how frequently Richards is injured, he could be the perfect player to cover for both vinnie and Richards. This way he will get sufficient game time as well.

We are far too reliant on VK, even more so now that Kolo has gone. The issue for me is that we need to bring in a centre back who has the experience to properly organise those around him and one who has really decent pace (especially with Pellegrini's defensive tactics) because as we have seen as soon as VK is out we are severely lacking in these two attributes at the back. But then buying a good defender who is quick and a leader of men is going to be seriously tough at this stage and if we get one, he won't be coming just as back up. Is Demichelis quick? I'm guessing not at 33 but then I can't say I know.

He (Adil Rami) has been mentioned a few tiems on this thread and some here rate him. I haven't seen more tha na few appearances from him so am i no position to judge his quality.

I did watch Diego Godin a bit more often last season though, and if he was available I'd say we should definitely go for him. Though I doubt Atl. Madrid would consider selling him.

We need someone for one season basically. Rekik will be ready next season, and we cant have someone who will slow down Nastis progression.
