Anyway, it would have been a gamble to sign him and I think City are looking at an experienced warrior type, so I can see Rami, Godin, or of course Pepe (if Madrid replace him/lower price tag) being on the shortlist. Some would prefer a young defender like Sakho or Kyriakos P, but I think Pellegrini specifically wants someone experienced.

it just doesn't make sense does it - I suppose they've guaranteed him game time, but it's still very strange. As you say he's got the makings and he's locally trained and he's very cheap at £9m.
