Cannavaro was definitely world class.
Puyol too was a very fine defender, though I thought he's around 6ft.
Jagielka isn't the tallest for a centre back either is he, but a decent defender, though not what I'd call world class.
Pace, positioning, reading of the game and obviously tackling can all go a long way to compensate for lack of height at centre back, but corners and aerial onslaughts from the likes of Stoke/lower division teams would be problematic I imagine.

So to summarise, you can't name a top class centre half over 6ft playing in the modern game ?
Apart from Phi Jones, obviously ;.)
