So I maybe, maybe have too much time on my hands. I went ahead and took the teams currently slotted for pots 1 and 2 and did a random, not fixed (eh hem, UEFA) draw...ten times. Here are the results. Draw number, followed by groups and top two teams put into each group.

So, to break it down, here is the number of times City, United, Arsenal, and Chelsea were drawn against each side from the opposite pot.
City: Zenit (x3), PSV (x2), Juventus, Barcelona, Benfica, Bayern Munich, PSG
United: Zenit (x4), PSV (x2), Barcelona (x2), Benfica, Bayern Munich
Arsenal: Barcelona (x4), Bayern Munich (x2), Benfica, Juventus, PSG, Zenit
Chelsea: Atletico Madrid (x4), Bayer Leverkusen (x3), Real Madrid (x2), Porto

Personally, Draw 9 would be my favorite. City getting grouped with PSV while the other three face off against Bayern, Barca, and Real.

Let me guess? 1 in 7 chance was it?
Sadly it doesn't work like that...
First of all Barca or Real are TV paired, so one will be on the BLUE side of the draw and the other will be on the RED side of the draw.
As soon as Chelsea come out of the hat they will be assigned RED or BLUE (lets say RED.
So on RED side you get Barca/Real, + Chelsea and on the BLUE you get Real/Barca. If BT pair us with Chelsea then we would be forces into the BLUE side of the draw. (1/4 chance of getting Real/Barca).
If the other English sides come out of the hot ball machine first then our options are limited even further (this would be the case if we were in pot 3 so it's essential to be in Pot 2 or we get as bad a draw as we ever did.
Worse still, TV companies across Europe collude with their picks to make it easier or more difficult to progress.

Punters really should be told what the TV pairs are before the draw it really does limit the groups a team can be put in.

for all those who believe the draw to be fair, take heed, this is where the fix is made to allow G14 easier passage

My point exactly - which I made earlier in the thread. It's fixed to ensure scum bags have best route to final - the rest is up to the players (& the ref of course). TV dictates & their global appeal rules.
That's why it's the Premiership for me!

Based on UK TVs preference being United, Arsenal, Chelsea & City
Here is my prediction should we get another point to qualify in 2nd or 3rd spot:
[1] Utd will get a really easy draw in the qualifier.
[2] City will be paired with Chelsea for the first time in 5 attempts. (so Utd & Arsenal will also be paired).
This will nullify City's advantage of being in Pot 2.
What it won't do is is give us the really bad draw that we normally get - just a bad draw..A really bad draw will occur; however, if City come out of the pot 2 AFTER Utd & Arsenal (1 in 3 chance of this).
If we come out of Pot 2 After Utd and Arsenal we WILL only have a 1 in 4 chance of avoiding Real/Barca/Bayern/PSG. ( though this is better than the 1/8 or 1/7 chance of getting a decent draw that we normally get).

Interestingly in the past we've had a 1 in 7 or 1 in 8 Chance of getting a Portuguese club in each of the 4 draws we have been in rather than Barca/Real/Bayern/PSG. It just hasn't happened yet. If we come out of Pot 2 before Utd or Arsenal our chance of playing the Portuguese champions or PSV is one in 4 or 1 in 3.

Do you reckon barca or Bayern get pissed off when uefa keep pairing us with them?

Am I the only one who doesn't mind getting a tough group ? I know the financial and coefficient implications but in footballing terms we have to be pitching ourselves against the best. If there's any value in the CL, surely it's facing the best sides in Europe not the weakest.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind getting a tough group ? I know the financial and coefficient implications but in footballing terms we have to be pitching ourselves against the best. If there's any value in the CL, surely it's facing the best sides in Europe not the weakest.

Can you remember who Porto, the shite Liverpool or the poor Chelsea teams that won drew in the group or early rounds?

Nope, people only remember the winners, not their route there.

No - probably because with YaYa in our team as a central midfielder they know they will finish top of the group.
