Champions League 15/16 seeding - City CONFIRMED Pot 2 - Pg20

Re: Champions League 2015/16 seedings - City in pot 2/3?

I actually detest the CL. Boring crap year after year. Surely it can't be beyond our owners to try and set up some alternative competition where, and I know this is kinda left field, but where poxy fecking seeding doesn't exit.
A competition whereby you get drawn against who you get drawn against, a competition whereby there is no inheld bias for the Establishment teams, a competition that has genuine excitement and UEFA have feck all to do with it.

The CL's time is up, I'm sacking it next season anyway. We need some sort of alternative competition where the rules don;t get rewritten every chuffing year to suit the Establishment clubs.

Sick to death of it, bring on something else that doesn't involve UEFA/Platini or that little bald fecker doing the draw.

Some of these posts are so petty and bitter there is no agenda if are team was good enough we would go far which there not some deluded people need to get that into their thick heads

Re: Champions League 2015/16 seedings - City in pot 2/3?

City have not been the victims of the seeding system alone. The most obvious observation to make about Pot 1 is that there are as many moderate to weak teams as there are very strong. Indeed, if we look at the champions league over the last 5 years it has been dominated by three clubs; Real, Barcelona and Bayern. In the four seasons City have competed in the CL all three of these teams have reached the semi-final on three occasions (Barcelona went out in the last eight last season) and one of these clubs has won the CL in two of the three completed tournaments and one of them is the most likely winner this season. In the group stage City have been drawn against Bayern three times and Real once! This is, of course, nothing other than pure bad luck, as it is a continuation of the dreadful luck we have that we have popped out of the hat against the other member of that Holy Trinity, Barcelona, in the last sixteen. The other English teams have been protected from this by the seeding system which puts them in pot 1 for "historical reasons". City have never drawn one of the weaker pot 1 teams and we have always got the stronger layer of the rogue pot 4 teams to give us the "group of death" without fail. This makes qualification much more difficult and means that we can't play weakened teams in the CL before Christmas to make the domestic programme a little less arduous as the other English teams have been able to.

The big difference the new seedings may make is to split Real and Barca between pots 1 and 2. This could mean we can only fall for one of two of the big 3 in the group stage, but, if we qualify and are in pot 3 we could, if we have another attack of our dreadful luck, find ourselves in a group with Bayern and Barca/Real! Most unlikely, of course...

From BBC Sport - Pot 3 - if we qualify.

We knew all that, but it doesn't make us pot 3.

There is no agenda. Aye right.

So are you claiming that UEFA are only changing the format so that they can see City become less and less likely to get into a higher pot ?? If you think that, then you have no understanding of the co-efficiency ratings. We are shit in Europe,as are other English teams who do usually fare better than us,so if you honestly believe that City merit being in a higher pot, then you`re deluded.

The one good thing to come out of this seeding is that the rags and the gooners time in pot 1 is finally over let's see how they get on now.

Whilst I am one of those massively in the 'there is an agenda' camp surely the change this year is only to the benefit of CITY and to the detriment of the scum and arse?

Whether we are in pot 2 or 3 there is at least a 50% chance that we will get drawn against a League winner against which we would be favourites against - I think that it is only Spain and Germany that I would think that we would be clearly not favourites.

Now the scum and arse can also get Barca or Bayern's groups unless I have it wrong

Re: Champions League 2015/16 seedings - City in pot 2/3?

Could someone like Napoli still get ahead of us if they do really well in EL and win it?

Pot3 might be a killer for us, it actually could result a Bayern-Real-City+(most tricky of Pot4) group LOL.

But lets hope Arse+MU finally will get a really tough one, with Bayern/Real/Barca in their group.

But we knew it early this season this change will happen, and we knew we finally can be Pot1 if we win the title.

On longer term we will be Pot1 if we win the title or CL maybe. With the rivals we have in PL no English team will be a regular in Pot1.

While in usually one horse race leagues like Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 they get easy Pot1 spots...
(PSG have so much financial advantage in France on rivals, despite the fact they do badly this season and that opened a door for Lyon maybe but still expect PSG to win it, or to win it at least 4 times out of next 5 seasons.

For us in the PL its probably 2 times in next 5 years at best imo.
