Said it yesterday, the day before and every other day before that for years. The Champions League is the best set of Emperor's New Clothes you will ever see. The winner is supposedly the best club side in Europe, or so we are led to believe! Just a quick glance at this year's finalist will show 2 teams, Spurs and Liverpool, who qualified for the 'Champions' League by finishing 23 and 25 points behind their own domestic League Champions. The same teams barely escaped their group with Liverpool losing half their group games a boasting a 33% loss rate in the tournament to date, whilst Spurs amassed a grand total of 8 points in their group and finished with a negative goal difference.

Even more bizarrely the 'Champions' League in its current format was 'created' in 1993. In that time the 2 teams who will contest the final of this greatest of misnomers, have never even been 'Champions' of the domestic leagues! Wait a minute, let me think about that.... we are about to have a 'Champions' League final contested by teams who have never been domestic champions in the life of this competition?

I rest my case that the Premier League is by far the most difficult league and the only league worth winning and that the 'Champions' League is a UEFA money spinning and media fuelled illusion to satisfy the cartel of their own importance.

Cl winner also goes to pot 1.so both we and Liverpool could end up in pot 1.

I classed that as one of the UEFA cups, applies to Chelsea and Arsenal too. If Liverpool win the League and CL it Pot 1 goes Benfica or Porto.

I'm sacking the CL off next season. Combination of mid week games (hard because of work), cost and UEFA (corruption/final ticket prices/allocation of tickets). To think that in a 68,000 stadium there will be 12,000 fans of the teams competing is an absolute farce.

If Liverpool win the Champions League, they probably are the best team in Europe. They've beaten Bayern and Barcelona (in quite the most dramatic fashion anyone has ever seen) and are neck and neck with City. In fact, they've only lost once all season compared to City's four times. If City win the league then they will have deserved it but in reality there's nothing to separate them. However, most neutrals believe Liverpool are the better team because they've beaten the cream of Europe whereas City have regularly fallen, year after year.

Stupidly named as "Champions League" - why?

Refereeing decisions are laughable in many of the matches and the draw is rigged to favour the teams in the cartel.

Rules constantly changing to enable the "Elder Statesmen" teams to obtain entry by hook or by crook.

You play 13 matches if you make it to the final and can lose as many as 6 of them yet still go on to win the competition.

Then look at the Premier League to win that we lost just 4 matches in 38 with only the "Bus Wreckers (tm)" anywhere near us.

I know which competition I think is the best one to win.
