Do you get Paper tickets for CL games? Or do they activate the cards?

Thay activate your card.

How come when I bought the ticket it asked for a delivery address? Or is this standard?

Not sure mate, but i know they activate your card having been in the cup schemes for a number of years.

If they activate cards and don't send out paper tickets i can see a lot of hassle on the nite of people going to there normal seats finding out they have been relocated and forgetting where they are meant to be sitting....!

They do send out a paper receipt with the seat numbers because, like you said, it would be a nightmare on the night with everyone arguing over seats

Not really they offer to send you an email or text with your new seat details. You just use your card to get in and then use the details to find the seat. This is how it worked last season anyway.

Im not in the Cup Scheme for the CL as I thought the tickets would be around £50 and i'd rather make sure I had the money in my account before I got the ticket.

Just looked on the confirmation, it says 'Tickets delivery address'. Perhaps they are using paper tickets?

Unless they have changed it from previous seasons then no you wouldnt get paper tickets.

But having been a season ticket holder for the best part of the last 4 decades i have always been guaranteed 'My seat' for all cup games. This is a new policy and one that needs addressing !

Surely it is only new because we are new to the CL? and new because it is different areas than 'normal' but 'your seat' is only guaranteed for league games, in my 36 years I never believed that i was guaranteed a particular seat for the cup despite, most of the time, being able to obtain my usual seat.
The club have addressed it and put an announcement on the web when they were notified.

Where is this announcement on the web? The Club has my postal address, email address and phone number, i have not been informed, had i known i would be relocated, and had i known i would have second bite of the cherry at buying a new seat after Cup scheme members i would have joined the cup scheme, which i guess is there idea of a marketing tool. I think it is obvious from previous pots that people feel unfairly treated. I have said previously i realise it is out of the clubs hands having to relocate so many fans, i and obviously a lot of others just feel they could have gone about it in a more customer friendly way, the grievances on here are just the tip of the ice berg !

"As a result of UEFA requirements for the Champions League, a number of seats held by seasonal members will not be available for matches in this competition.

Affected supporters who are on the Cup Scheme will be allocated an alternative seat first, which may include seats held by Platinum and Gold seasonal members who are not in the Cup Scheme. Tickets will then be made available for purchase by Platinum and Gold members who are not registered on the relevant Cup Scheme"

The above announcement appeared on the website Tues 23rd August...
...but I only just found it after trawling through 5 pages of "news".

FWIW, I could do without some of the smug smart-ass responses on here.

There is a sense of schadenfreude from some fans in other parts of the ground that normally get messed around for cup games (i.e. south stand) that other fans are getting the same treatment.
There are also the know-it-all "you should have read the small print" types who are the type of people that bore you to death in a pub.

There are TWO distinct grievances that are being aired:

1) City could have made more of an effort to inform certain fans in the CL cup scheme that it was likely they would have to re-locate specifically for CL games because of extra UEFA requirements for seats.
I've no idea when City found out, but I would be surprised if it was only within the last week.
An e-mail over the summer would have been nice, rather than a bland news piece on the website only a week ago.

2) As a knock-on effect of the re-locations required by the above, season ticket holders who would normally be able to book their seats for cup games are finding out that those seats have already been allocated to moved cup scheme members such as myself.

No one is complaining about the re-locations, simply the way in which it has been handled by the club.
An e-mail / letter should have been sent to all Level 2 seasoncard holders over the summer highlighting the risk of (1) and pointing out the effect of (2) as this would have better informed people of the benefits (or otherwise) of signing up for the CL cup scheme in a part of the ground that has not previously been affected by cup related re-locations.

Just had a confirmation email saying I have been moved from 206 to 201 for the Napoli game

Any idea if these will be the same seats for all the other games? Or will it change each game?

Previously they did it on a game to game basis so you would end up in different seats each timed you moved. Unless of course you asked for a certain seat and it was available.

The clubs attitude had got little if anything to do with anything related to this topic. It's pure regulation and logistics. If we see sustained success they will have to limit the cup scheme or bring in levels of membership to address it, at the minute the cup scheme is working only because of relatively low uptake.
I would have to disagree about the attitude. I understand regulations have to be applied, however i think the Club could have been a little more courteous towards Season ticket holders whos seats have become unavailable. It surely wouldn't take much to warn those effected and to offer the best alternative seating and to spell out the implications of not being in the Cup scheme ! I really do hope that good customer service does not start to suffer due to our success and the ability to get more people through the gates.

Now I understand why they have given me a nice comfy padded seat!!!......so they can kick me out of it for all champ league games! I dont even get my seat if in the cup scheme....

I'm in east 202 and haven't had an email telling me to vacate my seat yet. Anybody in 202 been reassigned ?

On a general point I empathise with people who are cheesed off about being relocated for journos / corporates / cunts generally but let's face facts ;

City don't care if there are 48,000 true blues in the ground or 48,000 representatives of champions league sponsors. For all their spin and fan "initiatives" like City Sq etc they really couldn't give a fuck that a guy from Moss Side who's sat in the same seat for every home game ever can't get his usual seat because Platini and his goons need it for a journo from the Baku Gazette.

It's not the people's game anymore

Why are we covering old ground ??
This same topic was on a previous thread some 7-10 days ago,so please some of you DID know in advance and have subsequently left it too late.
I went to the ground this morning and asked if my normal seats were still available for this game.
I was given a receipt confirming my Seat Number and upon my return from Manchester, had an e-mail from the Club confirming my purchase, again with the seat numbers.
I was told to print it off and bring it with me on the night of the game to confirm.
No problems for me and I was aware that I only had until the end of the day to purchase or I could lose my ST seat.
My problem not the Club if I can`t be arsed reading the OS where they give detailed info. ref ticket sales !!
However, I do understand that human errors cannot be helped.

My problem is the fact that I haven't had a chance to secure my regular seat purely because I was not in a suitable financial position to allow me to sign up for the cup direct scheme. My seat has gone to a cup scheme member who has also been moved.
This was never explained fully and I don't think the club are being fair to a) those cup scheme members who have to move and b) those who wouldn't normally have to move for cup games, but are now being moved because they wouldn't give the club access to their bank accounts.
This is the sort of stunt I'd expect the rags to pull on their customers.

Yes I understand your frustration and disappointment, but surely if,for whatever reasons from that individual, the Club dont get the full info ref Bank Account details then why blame the Club.
And please don`t compare our City to them fucking Rags.

You are obviously missing the point, you say you were aware you only had until the end of today to secure your seat, that isn't the case, your seat was availabe to purchase by anyone in the Cup scheme, you were just fortunate no one bought yours..! To suggest it is our fault for missing something posted on the OS is fekkin ludicrous, they should have made a lot more effort to inform people.

Why should supporters be treated as less important because they cannot afford for the club to take unspecified amounts of money on unspecified dates direct from their bank accounts?

The club want access to your bank account, so that they can take the money for home cups automatically, yes? They don't say when they'll take the money, and they didn't publish CL prices until recently. I have to admit I expected the CL games to be more expensive than they are but I couldn't risk the club attempting to take money for me and my sons tickets and that money not being there, incurring more bank charges. So because I haven't allowed that access to the club, my seat has already been allocated to somebody with a healthier bank balance than me. I'm not one of these fans that misses FA cup and carling cup games, if City are at home I'm there in my regular seat with my mates. Only not for CL games because I couldn't afford for the club to take money direct from my account. I just wanted to pay for my regular seat with cash. This has really soured the CL for me.

It fucking stinks and is exactly how the rags treat their customers

Have you read this thread ????
Just because you aren't affected, there is no need to get all smug with your "I'm alright Jack attitude".

This thread is not about fans "leaving it too late" or "not reading the OS" but about the way in which City have handled re-locations in a part of the ground not normally affected by Cup re-locations.

There has been a distinct lack of courtesy + professionalism in the way that people have found out they can't access their regular seat.
In my case, an e-mail over the summer highlighting the issue would have been sufficient (even if I had already signed up for the CL cup scheme by then).

Likewise, for other fans...the implication that they might get "bumped" of their seats if they didn't sign up for CL scheme...might have made them reconsider the pros + cons etc.

Look, this is part of a learning curve for City (+ the fans) about some of the logistical complications that come with being in corporate dominated competitions such as the CL.

We will all be better informed for next year(hopefully)...but that does not excuse a lack of courtesy in the way that they are treating supporters who are forking out for some of the most expensive season tickets in the stadium.

Absolutely spot on mate. i have lost my seats in 204 front row and gone into the bun fight to choose a new seat. it would appear that my request for as near to 204 and front row has been granted according to my booking history, but that means that some poor sod has lost his two prime seats which he would surely have booked had the club made it clearer.
However, come next year, when everyone realises that they have to be on the cup scheme, there is every chance that i will have to relocate to the top of tier 3 for a seat and im sure that after forty years of supporting and fundraising for this club, i deserve better than that.
The cow towing to uefa concerns me as if we dont make a stand now, the next thing will be the club taking blocks 204 and 206 into the corporate area for all matches as they are such prime seats.
The split in our support on this site is worrying, no one appears to give a toss until it affects them ie munich away tickets etc.

Their is no split in support, people are having a gripe without coming up with an alternative. You yourself are saying you have been moved into someone elses seat and feel sorry for the guy. Yet at the same time your saying if people have their seats you wouldnt be happy sitting in level 3. So what exactly do you expect them to do? City have to accomadate uefa thats just a fact. So thats why its happening. Maybe you have some other alternative?
