Might it not be better to keep Jovetic in the squad, if only because he offers something a bit different? Bony, Aguero and Dzeko are all Number 9s, I'm not sure we need all three.

Ergo drop Edin. He can also then use Wednesdays to practice his first touch.

We're never going to need Caballero in that competition so drop the willy.

Can't, we have to have two goalkeepers on the 'A' list and Lamps, Milner, Clichy, Hart have taken our 4 HG spots so we can't replace him with Wright.

Very tough decision. I think it would have been tough on Negredo to exclude him even if he stays and even with his injury status at that moment. But5 know to exclude one player that isnt injured is not a good decision to make. Surely Bony makes sures he came because CL is such a huge thing, not putting him into the squad would be a fuck up. Even if he then plays nothing vs Barca.

Will we have a bad injury next few weeks that keeps a player out for at least 1-2 month to make this decision at least somewhat easier? Well I hope not.

Eirther way its a blow for the specific player that gets the "axe", and he probably should get some other games in PL/Fa Cup.

Really hope next summer we wont have these problems.

As much as I see Dzeko as the spare part due to the signing of Bony but he cannot be dropped. He is a huge confidence player. Dropping him would be horrendous for the squad.

I think its 01 February is the date when clubs have to send their final squad list to Uefa. Maybe 02 February as today is Sunday.

Few days and surely we find out about the one player getting the axe from CL squad.

It will be harsh on anyone but one of them will need to "take" it. Unless its Bony who wanted CL football but not this season yet.:)

Any idea what's the firm date of squad submission? I'd have thought it's AFTER the window closes so probably 3rd or 4th Feb?

CL Squad List for 2015.

So with the transfer window closing we have to resubmit our squad list for the Barca games and hopefully the ones after that. At this stage on the last day we have Bony signed and looking good in the AFCON so he will need to fit in the squad as 1 of the 16 foreign players, listed below. No word of any departures so someone has to drop out. My thinking is it’s between Caballero, Jovetic and Sagna.

WC is calculated risk, any other outfield player and you are essentially pointing them out the door. I think Jovetic is a likely option as it would be 1 attacking player for another and if we want to move him on in the summer this will start the ball rolling. Sagna is worth a mention as he is one of the older players and is cover for Zab who is pretty dependable although he could be covered by others i.e. Milner or Clichy. Also makes you realise how valuable the HG players such as Milner and Clichy are as there are very few English players who can do a job for us in the CL. P.S. I don’t dislike Jovetic as a player I just sense that he is one of the most vulnerable.

Kompany, Mangala, Sagna, Kolarov, DeMichelis, Zabaleta.

Fernando, Fernandinho, Toure, Silva, Navas, Nasri,

Jovetic, Dzeko, Aguero.

Does anyone know for certain if we can make changes to the CL squad under the FFP sanctions? There was just a vague mention of restrictions in the original sanction document IIRC.

I would think it'll be either Willy or Jov. Too risky to drop Sagna. Personally I'd go with either Jov or Dzeko only because we'll have those areas covered.
