Does anyone know for certain if we can make changes to the CL squad under the FFP sanctions? There was just a vague mention of restrictions in the original sanction document IIRC.
there was and it also made me wonder at the time but Manuel seems in no doubt he can swap.

Re: CL Squad List for 2015.

As I've said before, we have to have 2 goalkeepers on our A list so unless we drop one of Lampard, Milner, Clichy, Hart for Richard Wright it will not be Caballero.

In that case it's gotta be one of the Balkans. If I had to guess I'd say Jovetic is the most likely to be dropped.

Re: CL Squad List for 2015.

Bony simply has to be found a place in the Champion's League squad so, baring in mind the restrictions we've had, unfairly, forced upon us, we'll need to remove one of our existing foreign contingent from the squad. As has been mentioned above, it would seem to be a three way choice between backup keeper Willy Caballero, backup right back Bacary Sagna and backup striker Stevan Jovetic. For me both Caballero and Sagna are too risky to be left out. If Hart is suspended, or picks up a lengthy injury, then I don't want to be relying on an EDS keeper, or Richard Wright, to face the likes of Barcelona, and potentially others beyond. Similarly with Sagna, if Zabaleta is suspended, or injured, then I'd prefer to have Sagna as an option, instead of probably Milner playing there. That only really leaves Jovetic, he'd arguably be the 4th choice striker in the squad anyway, and even if Aguero, Dzeko and Bony were all unavailable, we've proven we can struggle by to a degree with 6 midfielders rather than a recognised striker. Doesn't bode well for Jovetic's future at the club to be honest, but he hasn't really worked out as an option so far and I wouldn't be surprised, or too devastated, to see him moved on in the summer.

Re: CL Squad List for 2015.

hard to know what exactly is going on behind the scenes but my guess is that Dzeko's position with the club is a bit more fragile than Jovetic and i would go direct like for like and replace Bony for Dzeko in the CL squad.

it will doubtless p*ss him right off but if the club see him as out of the door this summer then they'll do it. Likewise if they see Jovetic leaving. It'll be striker for striker im pretty sure.

Him or Kolarov, seeing as both right backs and Mangala can play in his position. Personally I'd drop Aleks, we don't know what shape/form Nasri will come back in, Milner hasn't been great, Dzeko and Aguero aren't fully fit and Bony has yet to even train with us, so imo dropping Jovetic represents a greater risk.

My greatest fear would be that leaving one of the Balkans out leads to them all becoming unsettled/mardy. I agree though that if it were up to me I'd drop Aleks. I just wonder whether Pellegrini might not take the point of view that he trusts Kolarov more as a full back than he does Jovetic as a forward.

When will this have to decided by?

Kolarov is many things but he is not a right back

I never said he was :) Sagna and Zab are both very capable left backs though.
