Chelsea (H) - Carabao Cup | Post-Match Thread

The linesman flagged, the referee gave an indirect free kick, not a goal kick. Chelsea forward thinking he can avoid being offside by staying off the pitch.
Correct. I think the rule is any player off the pitch in an offside position. You don't count defenders also off the pitch. Something odd like that but basically if you go over the goal line and then come back you are off side.

What was the Chelsea goal disallowed for.
Was it offside.
The header on to the post was as bad a bit of defending as you can get.
It was harder to hit the post than put it out for a corner.
The Chelsea player who shot last was off the pitch (with a City player), which meant he was offside when the other Chelsea player played the ball.

If a player is off the pitch, then he is deemed to be on the byline. As he was off the pitch with one City player, he was offsude as he was ahead of Ortega.

Yep that’s what is was ruled out for on replay it didn’t look like it went out

In this instance you are correct but if he deliberately goes off to avoid being offside he will still be classed as being on the pitch as he went off to avoid this ,this would also apply if a defender goes off to play a player offside

On last night's performance, he's arguably a better package than Ederson if you combine his competent distribution and excellent shot stopping?

At least he's better than that clown Steffen, who cost us trophies.

He looked reasonable when he first came in but went backwards towards the end at a rapid rate, culminating n his horror show against Liverpool last season. In his defence he helped win us the league cup final against Spurs in the covid era. Remember his great save just after halftime with the score at 0-0?
