I'm going to stick my neck out here and call it early, Di Matteo will not be the Chelsea manager at the start of next season.

Not the start of this season then ;)

He won't last till the new year if results a dodgy

So, Abramovich is going to stick it out with him until the end of the season and bring in Pep then? Good luck to them.

There's a reason why I say this time next year but I'll leave it like that for now

Presumably this is because Bob Matthews is keeping the manager's seat there warm for Guardiola once Pep has finished his year away from the game?

Not sure that it'd be the right job for Guardiola to prove that he can be successful away from the Barca environment where he's spent his whole career, myself. I can see why he'd take it (it's the current European champion, has been one of the most successful teams in the world's most popular league for a decade, there's the London factor, and they'd no doubt pay him an awful lot of money). However, unless Abramovich is willing to change the way he runs the place and to show a degree of patience that is frankly uncharacteristic, I think it would be quite tough for Guardiola.

I should imagine he is about 1/10 not to be there next season.

If Pep is lined up as most would have you believe, why would he not take over at the beginning of the season? (I take it by next season you're not referring to the one that starts in less than a week).

Chelsea have bought some quality player, but it's going to be very difficult to integrate them.

Abramovic fired too many managers and delayed the team re-building too long.

Now they have to replace an entire strikeforce of Kalou, Drogba and Anelka whilst other key players like Cole, Lampard, Essien and Terry are unable to carry them.

Mata, Ramires, Hazard and Oscar look like really top quality replacements, but it's a big ask to put them into a team that's under pressure and expect them to click straight away.

Torres scored a quality goal against City (I didn't think he had that in him still - probably a one-off) and they need him back to his best to qualify for the Champions League again, or they need a new striker.
