Chelsea Thread 2013/14 (continued)

I was rather hoping it would make a leg sapping extra time. Wouldn't have even minded a Chelsea win if it took their eye off the prem matches.

Looks like it will be a trophiless season for Mourinho, but he would have learnt a lot. It's my opinion the team are missing at least 3 players to be at the level Mourinho wants.

1. A world class striker
2. A ball playing partner to Matic
3. A quality centre back.

Aguero
Silva
Kompany

arf ;o)
Not that I don't rate Silva, but that was not what I meant. They need someone like Modric, Kroos, Moutinho or Gundogan. Not a no10, they will use Oscar there.

Well done Madrid, much the better side.

Luis and Ramiers were utter dog turd. Does Eto'o always walk around with a permanent limp? He just does it for show I think
Disagree about Luiz. He was decent, but was let down by his partner and generally outclassed. Luiz and Ramires might be sold in the summer. I expect they will raise a lot of money.

Torres, Luiz, Ramires and maybe Demba ba may all be sold. Lukaku, Moses and a host of other youngsters might be sold for a profit too.

I didn't think he was that great, bar a great overhead kick. Agree about being outclassed.

It makes me wonder who will get Lukaku if they flog him. Could have done with him tonight perhaps

-- Thu May 01, 2014 12:40 am --

Eden Hazard admitted Chelsea are "not made to play football" following Wednesday's exit from the Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

Jose Mourinho's men took the lead through Fernando Torres but goals from Adrian Lopez, Diego Costa and Arda Turan ensured Atletico set up an all-Madrid final in Lisbon next month.

And after the match Hazard suggested that chasing the game with Diego Simeone's men defending in numbers was never going to suit his side.

"I don't know what we lacked," he told beIN Sport. "After scoring, we had the game in our hands. Maybe they wanted it more than we did... It was an intense game. Beautiful to watch with opportunities.

"I'm sad but logic has been respected bacause they deserveed to qualify.

"Chelsea is not made to play football. We're good on the counter, a little bit like Real against Bayern.

"We did it well tonight since we scored. But their goal hurt us before the break. We failed to make the difference in the second half.

"Often, I'm asked to do it all by myself and it's not easy. It was a complicated game. It will be a lesson for us regarding next year."

The comment is likely to raise further questions about the Belgian's long-term future at Stamford Bridge, with reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain avowed admirers of his talents.

Hazard stoked the fire of speculation by donning a PSG shirt for an interview with Canal+ after Chelsea's 3-1 defeat to Laurent Blanc's men at the Parc des Princes earlier this month.

--------

He won't be there when he's 25.

He looked well off the pace at times. Lost his man twice tonight but both times the fall back was no where to be seen

i hope for a chelsea win tonight just as a big thanks for opening the title up again, infact i can do better than that i hope they go on and win it
Why not? It'll be nice to shut up the La Liga/Bundesliga arse lickers, keeps the PL Co-efficient high.
Unfortunately it also keeps that annoying little Portuguese talking gnome in a job.

Why not? Because it would have made Mourinho happy. Not to mention it would also make John Terry. And to think of that club winning the most prestigious trophy in club football again would be just unbearable. So I'm glad the final will be a Madrid final, and I hope Real have their hearts broken, La Decima should remain elusive forever, something like the Holy Grail.

Yep it's pretty obvious what they need. Why they didn't get it last summer is hard to understand though. Plus letting Lukaku go made no sense, and Oscar is no where near creative enough imo to be a world class number 10. They should have kept Lukaku and Mata and made this their attack imo:

Willian--Mata--Hazard
-----------Lukaku-----------

Would have been quality imo. Some huge mistakes made there imo.

Wow, is that just a translation problem? I wonder if he's thinking what could have been if he'd pushed to join us rather than Chelsea?

Well if Real are the better team in the final I hope they win it. :)
You should look at the highlighted part for my opinion on Moaning Maureen and I'm being nice this week because he did us a favour by beating Liverpool.

I lost count of those posting yesterday who said "I think Chelsea will win". I just hope they aren't the ones predicting a City victory at Goodison.

The incontrovertible fact is that no one, even perhaps God, has any idea what is going to happen in any given match.

(Is this the first time "incontrovertible" has been used on Bluemoon?)
