How did Chelsea play? From the highlights and Mourinho's comments it looks like Schurrle is exactly what he wants on the left. With all the talk about Mata it could quite easily be Hazard the one who is left out.

Looks like De Bruyne might be the fall guy, but 5 players for 7 positions is fine: Oscar, Mata, Schurrle, Hazard and William.

EDIT
Carragher a bit clueless if was questioning what Ramires adds.
We played pretty well but never had to try hard to beat this Romanian team. It simply wasn't a fair contest, but we didn't allow them any opportunities with complacency which is always the danger. We need to beat Schalke and Basel to recover from our earlier slip because I think Steaua will be the whipping boys of the group. Schurrle was indeed excellent and tore their right flank to pieces all night.

We saw today (City v Everton) why Mourinho has let Lukaku go out on loan. His technique is simply not good enough

He's only 20 and his technique isn't exactly terrible. He holds up well and brings their wingers into play a lot. His stamina is the bigger obstacle for him as he was knackered in the second half and his first touch still needs work.

You've never been a fan of his for some reason though.

Look at his goals to games ratio in the premier league Marvin before you talk about anything else.

You would have him ahead of Torres , Ba and Eto but his style may not suit the way Chelsea play that is all.

Jose is big on these things its why he has shunned Mata for much of the season.

Thought we saw today why he sent him out on loan as well, but not for the same reasons. He's not ready to be spearheading Chelsea's attack, of that I think there is little doubt. What he will do however, along with gaining excellent experience at Everton, especially under Martinez, is help them take points off the likes of us. Could have worked today too.

Think Mourinho in this instance has done exactly the right thing. Takes points from rivals, gets more game time than he would at Chelsea, still can't actually play against Chelsea, and they should have more than enough goals in them to not miss him.

He's got power, good in the air, and can finish, but his general all round game, and link play is non-existent

Numerous times the ball was played into him, and it bounced back, or he took it passed it straight to us

Best as an impact sub when he can make the most of his power over tiring defenders. That's largely how WBA used him.

If he continues to score I am sure he will be a walk up start for them.

And against Newcastle too. Idk what Marvin's talking about, his link play is actually really good for a striker his age.
