He's got power, good in the air, and can finish, but his general all round game, and link play is non-existent

Numerous times the ball was played into him, and it bounced back, or he took it passed it straight to us

Best as an impact sub when he can make the most of his power over tiring defenders. That's largely how WBA used him.

you didnt see him play at west ham he held the ball up, passed it and linked.

And against Newcastle too. Idk what Marvin's talking about, his link play is actually really good for a striker his age.

yep. im pretty sure we are witnessing the rise of improved version of drogba! which is fukin crazy when you think about it.

We saw today (City v Everton) why Mourinho has let Lukaku go out on loan. His technique is simply not good enough

I'd have him here in a heartbeat, the 'man' is unplayable at times and I saw very little wrong with his technique yesterday, especially when he turned our defense inside out to score.

Marvin,you never let us down.....

Wouldn't have him over Aguero or Negredo.

I like Lukaku and think he'll be a great player. But wasnt that impressed with him yesterday.

Very good for a 20 year old, but not the finished product by any means. I'd have him here as 3rd/4th forward option, but think it's probabky better for his development to be playing week in week out.

Moves frequently break down when the ball is played into him. He's not a top 4 striker at the moment. He's aggressive with the power to match, and he can finish, but his hold-up play is appalling. That was evident throughout yesterday's game when the ball was played into him and it bounced off him, or when he did have the ball under control he passed it poorly

If you don't believe me, look out for it in future. I'm not questioning his finishing, look what he does with the ball when he's not through on goal. That aspect of his game is very poor.

Mourinho was asked about him very recently and said he was a good player for Everton, but not for Chelsea, and I agree with him. Work It out. What could possibly be the weakness in his game if he has a decent goal-scoring record

-- Sun Oct 06, 2013 3:46 pm --

Agreed.

Whether he'll make the step up, we'll have to see, but he's more likely to make the step up playing every week, than sat on the bench

Hey Castiel, do you think Mata will be starting in the PL regularly for you now? Trying to decide if I put him in my fantasy team this week.

You're better off with Oscar. He's Mourinho's favourite player and he's really responding to the faith shown in him this season. I'm not sure where Mata's future lies but Oscar is turning into something special. Hazard is hitting some of his best form as well. You can't go wrong with those two from Chelsea atm.

-- Sun Oct 20, 2013 1:22 pm --

Mata's future is not looking good. The lack of confidence the manager is showing him seems to have effected him. Oscar has been brilliant so far and still so young. Still need a Lampard replacement. The game next week will be a big test.

Not sure we need a Lampard clone even if we were lucky enough to find one, but we do need some quality in central midfield (since Van Ginkel tore his ACL). Lampard was so successful for us in our old 433, a young Lampard wouldn't be so effective in the system we play today because he doesn't have licence to burst late into the box or linger so far forward. With Khedira making public comments about being unhappy, saying he's a "Mourinho disciple" there is a lot of talk of us moving for him in the January window. I'd personally be delighted if we signed him.
